JJ 1-10 from 3

Who is it, do you think, doesn’t have the green light to shoot an open 3. Autry wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line for his ability to get to the rim. He wants him to drive, get to the rim, finish or draw a foul. His three point shots were open, mostly set up by penetration from Carlos who was great last night at kicking his drives out to open shooters. JJ missed them. Autry still wants pretty much anyone that is open to shoot them . For God’s sake, even Cuffe has a green light to shoot them and has even made a few. Don’t you see that?
Seriously? Then that’s awful coaching. Awful. JJ is not a good three point shooter.

Bad long range shooters should not be taking every “open” shot. Why do you think he’s “open”? Because our opponents are freaking thrilled when Starling chucks up TEN threes in a game.

My goodness.

Nope. If they’re there and open, he has to take them. You’re a fool if you tell him any different.
Man alive. I don’t pretend to be a Xs and Os savant. But I know when the opponent literally schemes to give a bad shooter shots.

I know you feel compelled to disagree with everything I post here. But my goodness, take the L on this one.

If Red wants "pretty much anyone that is open to shoot them" then he's an even worse coach than I imagined, and that's saying a lot. Just think about it... if the opposing team is begging your player (in this case JJ) to heave up 3ptrs, don't you think that just might be a bad strategy to oblige?
I mean, Boeheim won a hell of a lot of games by following this strategy with his zone - literally scheme the game to have the crappiest three point shooters on the other team shoot as many 3s as they can. Boeheim would be salivating playing this team, he'd literally coax JJ into shooting 10 threes intentionally.

Sorry dude. The fool is having a guy on your team heave and chuck 10 3s (making only one) when he's a 26% shooter MEANWHILE you have Taylor shooting lights out sitting on the bench.
Accurate.

Efficiency matters. The path to a 12-18 record is paved with 26.5% three point shooters hucking up 6 shots a game beyond the arc.

Anyone who wants JJ shooting any 3s has no idea what they are watching. Anything outside of 8 feet is an adventure for JJ - his free throw form is like a 6th grader's push shot (honestly, how many D1 guards shoot free throws were the release point on the shot is below their head????), and his distance shots are line drive Nolan Ryan fastballs aimed directly at the front of the rim. The ball has to physically be higher than the level of the hoop at some point in its trajectory in order to have a chance of going in.

It's kind of hilarious that JJ shoots line drives from deep and Eddie can barely get the ball over the rim.

Seriously, I cannot criticize Eddie, I really feel he puts in the effort. But, when he backs his man down and then fires a missile at the front of the rim, I can't believe someone can be so devoid of any touch.

It's funnier to me when he tries to loft it but it's comically short.

But also, I think Eddie has played pretty well overall.

I agree, he is working hard. He just is not good around the basket. He lacks touch. But, he works hard. I will take that every time. I'm not saying he is worth the money spent, but he puts in the effort. I wish all our guys put in his effort.

JJ needs to be told no threes unless it’s a shot clock violation, if they sag off drive and shoot a floater, similar to Kadary, MCW, etc.
