JJ from behind the backboard

I read the ball should not go over the rectangular backboard either direction or it is instantly out of bounds. Good for everyone to know this.
If they want to enforce that strictly, it would be easy. They could run some sort of cord from the corner of the backboard vertical to the ceiling or have antennas like they do on volleyball nets. If the ball touches or goes between the antennas, it's OOB. I like the way it works now. Really, I don't understand why we even need the rule. If guys can hit shots from behind the backboard while being guarded, they deserve the points.

If bball refs actually gave out techs for coming out on the court, Buzz Williams would be serving burgers right now.
As would Jamie Dixon. Dude lived on the floor at Pitt. Didn’t he almost accidentally trip one of our players during play?

Yeah, for better or worse it’s the ref’s game. There’s a million judgement calls and that is one of them. To waive off that basket would have made them colossal jerks and fortunately for us, they weren't colossal jerks.
