Joe Filardi

BC has the #108 rushing defense, #132 passing defense, #131 total defense.

They are way way down from UNC and ND.

Every lacrosse player's dream. Go have fun Joe, finally a game where no one will be watching or paying any attention.

It's not his fault. I don't blame Filardi. He never should have been put in that situation in the first place.

Correct he shouldn’t be on the team but actually playing? A complete joke.

Relax. My son plays college lacrosse.

My point, which is obvious, is the same as yours. He's a freshman walk on who should (a) never have played this season, and (b) should never be expected to play in any season.

I asked if the original poster was serious because he was asking people to be patient for Filardi to develop. WE shouldn't be patient. We should have no expectation whatsoever that he plays QB for SU ever again. He should go play lacrosse at a high level, which is why he's at SU.
Saying “freshman walk on” would make your point a million times more clear.

When you just say “he’s a lacrosse player” and nothing else it makes it seem like him playing lacrosse is a bigger issue than him being a freshman walk on. It ain’t.

Reminder to all regarding lacrosse playing football players: Jim Brown was a lacrosse player. The best one there ever was. And the best football player too.

In 2020 Syracuse was 1-10. At a point during the season they started true freshman QB Jacobian Morgan vs BC. Morgan went 19-30 for 188 with a TD and 1 int. For his true freshman season he finished 31-49, 285 yards 2 tds and 2 ints. (During a 1-10 season). A fair number of board members said Morgan was not a P4 Quarterback and certainly not good enough to be the future QB at Syracuse.

Now it seems more people are defending Filardi's ability, his true frosh status, and piling on excuse. There are those who honestly believe he's a legit P4 quarterback. It's crazy. He should stick to lacrosse.

Filardi 21-47, 161, 1 TD, 3 int, 44.3% - 4 games

Morgan 31-49, 285, 2 TD, 2 int, 63% - 4 games (knocked out in game 4 vs LVille)

Filardi had a TD pass at the end if the Miami game. 3/3 for 39 yds. Just for accuracy.

Not sure which thread this goes in, maybe it deserves its own, but an overlooked piece of this puzzle is the simplified playbook.

On the surface it makes sense to boil it down to what your QB can run, but it doesn't just simplify things for our QB, it also simplifies things for the other team's defense.

Take the first ND pick. Pretty simple curl route and the safety had initially dropped back. It shouldn't have been all that risky a throw. But you watch the tape and the safety closed in hard before it was even clear Villari was going to curl. He knew it wasn't an out route, and he knew it wasn't going to be a deep ball. Way too risky to do that otherwise.

All of us have the right to our beliefs; I agree with some of this post and disagree with some. Yes, they made some mistakes and in each case they tried to learn from and correct them. Some adjustments worked and others still need more work.

If Carney and family were given a promise of a Red Shirt then that promise shoukd have been honored.

IMO, the staff messed up in their initial evaluation of Ricky Collin’s and they have been paying for it this!

So you’re saying we will get shut out in the first half and then put up a garbage time TD trailing 40-3?

I am not sure the talent is there for him to be an FCS QB. The first game I was most concerned with his accuracy. This game I thought his arm talent was lacking. It stood out, besides the bad decisions which I can forgive.

I'm saying we'll put up 6 in the first half and 10 in the second half. Feels 34-16 ish to me.

I do wonder if we'll be any better against a terrible defense in a game that is on no one's radar.

This thread imploding in 3...2...1...

Why would it implode? This is par for the course.

The QB situation has been terribly mishandled. There isn't much more to say.

The random drives that Carney has gotten have made no sense. How they have used Carney, overall, has made no sense. Starting the fifth string, walk on, true frosh QB for a third game is a situation that is really awful.

There is nothing to meltdown about. Get it fixed for next year. Otherwise, this is a continuation of the mishandling for the whole year.

Put Angeli in bubble wrap.

I agree for the most part but some guys are so out on Filardi this may put them over the top. Hopefully he has a decent game or we at least see Rich.

I thought the safety made a great play. He started so deep this pass should be completed 100% of the time.
