I know the kid is also going to be playing lacrosse, but I believe this is the player Fran was referencing in his interview today — Joe Filardi. From what I’ve seen, his high school tape is extremely impressive and very polished, showing advanced mechanics, excellent field awareness, and a natural feel for the game. He looks like someone who could step in and make an immediate impact if given the opportunity.
Over the summer, he added the weight and strength he needed to handle the physical demands at the next level, which makes me even more confident in his ability to contribute right away. He’s a multi-sport athlete, which speaks not only to his athleticism but also to his competitive nature and coordination — traits that often translate well for quarterbacks.
If Rickie or Luka struggle at any point in the Georgia tech game , I would love to see Joe get a series or two on the field. He has the skill set to provide a spark for the offense and could really energize the team. Having a polished, physically ready quarterback like him waiting in the wings is a big asset, and I think he could make an immediate difference if the situation calls for it.

I haven’t seen this mentioned here or on the Lax board but Filardi’s father, Gerald, played middle linebacker at Penn State from ‘92-‘96. A freshman walk-on, he was put on scholarship as a sophomore & went on to lead the team in tackles while being named All-Big Ten as both a junior & senior. Signed as an UDFA with the Steelers but didn’t make the roster. He was Joe’s football HC in high school & Joe is wearing his father’s #47 for the Lax team

Just to muddy the QB waters more. Fran mentioned in a recent interview about the QB's, I forget the exact context but he threw out that hey Joe Filardi could end up playing. The remark at the time could be taken as hey even our walk on is competing in the QB room. In another interview from a day or two ago he said they had a QB who hasn't played who could end up being the best one but didn't want to name him. PS article from today mentioned that comment. Just putting the two comments together could that be Filardi he was taking about. Maybe or maybe not. I know he is a lacrosse recruit but some on this board were also excited about his football potential.

I saw on twitter Nick Aquino said Filardi was the guy Fran is referencing. And I completely agree. I remember posting about it in his thread here, his hudl tape blew me away for a PWO. It was my favorite I watched between him Belin and Carney. He doesn’t blow you away physically, def doesn’t have the strongest arm but his timing, accuracy, touch, are all great
