Joe Filardi

They don’t need to go to much trouble. Collins is gone and Carney’s likely saving the RS. There’s no option besides Belin who mustve been outplayed by Joe.

You won’t see Collins in orange again
We just may have 3 scholarship QBs leave, at least 2, Carney would be 3. QB2 has to come from the portal, sell him on getting QB1 reps all spring and that Angeli has a serious injury that could extend into next season. We won’t get Joe Burrow but we sure as hell can get someone competent

When one MUST talk, one MUST say something. When one has the option of saying something or saying nothing, the smarter option may be (and usually is) to say nothing. Not sure how a lie gets rationalized as coach speak...
It wasn’t an option to not say anything about the quarterback and it’s not an outright lie if you believe it may be true or hope it will be true.

Or flip Peyton falzone

Filardi is not a D1 QB right now. God bless him for going out there and competing, but at the present time, he is not capable and at least last game, he wasn't prepared (I'm blaming the coaches for that).

Just don't want him to get hurt.

It's honestly, imo, malpractice to put him out there again this year. Again, jmho.

You really think that the fall camp was close between Angeli and Collins? Steve must have had a terrible, terrible camp...
Do you? I don’t. It’s coach speak. It’s not as hard as you are making it out to be.

Why is it the coaches fault? A walk-on true freshman who is forced into action because of an injury to #1 and an ineffective #2. That's the coaches' fault that this isn't Peyton Manning?

Hold the phone everyone, we got Dcuse here to educate everybody!

It was unnecessary for them to lead us to believe the QB competition was so close. Sometimes it is better to say nothing! Truth is, they didn’t know at the time, that we were going to find out!

Two things here: 1. As everyone has already pointed out, saying one of your players isn't that good is not something Fran or really any coach will do. 2. Something to add. Steve's first two weeks of camp, before being named the starter, were his first two weeks running the offense. Let's not forget that 4 weeks after that we were playing UConn and people wanted him benched at half time.

It seems pretty plausible to me that Rickie being here for spring ball and working with the wideouts and Steve just getting there in the summer would play itself out on the field and took a few weeks for Steve to really take off and become the clear choice for the job.

still don't understand the Belin and Williams situation? were they really beat out by Filardi? or the coaches know they are transferring? i'm surprising coach FB hasn't said anything about them, as he's been open about the Angeli, Collins, Carney, and Filardi.

Whoops, NineOneSeven says it's the coaches fault. My bad.
it is the coaches fault, losing your QB #1 and allowing the season to 100% tailspin and now a 36 point underdog at ND underdog and becoming the worst team in P4 the last 8 weeks is Fran's fault and I am sure he would agree to that. It was GROB's, Shafer's, Marrone's fault when he lost the last 7 games of the season, also Dino's when he went 1-10 or whatever it is and also lost a bunch of games to end the season. the head coach takes the heat, that is the job. Fran takes the heat for paying Rickie Collins to come to Syracuse and being a total mess at QB. No other way to look at it. Most likely going 3-9 in year 2 is on Fran. Like I said, hoping to get back to 7 wins next year. Injuries happen in football but it's not a free pass not should it ever be. What we have seen the last 7-8 weeks should not be just brushed under the rug when reviewing the head coaches performance. It's a rough look

The QB room is Fran's doing, he gets the pat on the back for bringing in Kyle McCord and Angeli, he takes the heat for what has been on the field since Angeli got hurt. Depth mattters and is his responsibility, who should it fall on?

Was it Bill Belichick's fault when Tom Brady tore his ACL in 2008 and the Patriots missed the playoffs? Clearly he failed to develop Matt Cassel into a Super Bowl winning QB.

Yes it is the coaches fault we only had one functional quarterback on the entire roster. They are the people doing these evaluations.

Why are you so sensitive to any criticism of any SU coaches, either football or basketball?

How much of the issue is Nunzio? Should Jakhari at least have been functional and able to step in after 2 years in the system?
