We already have proof he can win if he has the players. He needs to keep stacking talent on both sides of the ball. Nixon was great last year. He’s been worse this year, but anyone would struggle with these QB options.

Defensively, there is very little talent. The best players are the young guys, Samuels, Peal, Antoine, and Tremble. We are terrible up the middle with overall below average at LB and safety play. Robinson certainly hasn’t been impressive, but we don’t have the talent this year, and last season we didn’t have the size for the defense he wanted to run. I thought defense has been better since adding Don Brown, but still poor. I’d wish Robinson could focus more on recruiting, keep his titles, but add a co-DC that can either take over or help with schemes.

We all knew this was going to be a tough year. We got excited with the Clemson win and Steve’s performance through 3.5 games. I think if he’s healthy we have another 2 wins.

The team hasn’t quit either. You can tell when a team quits. This one hasn’t, which means the culture is there. They just don’t have the talent compared to last season.

To be fair, HCFB has struggled significantly with in game adjustments.

Fran is fine. 10-3 last season shows he can win when he has the talent. Look at the guys they lost to the NFL who are playing and producing.

Autry never should have even been in the consideration to be given the job in the first place. I’ve never seen someone go to a long time assistant of a struggling program that desperately needs new life and culture, thinking he will turn it around. That was an grade hire at the time and the results have been as expected.

This is only year two under Fran but he has lost a lot of his luster from last season. He (& his staff) look totally lost. I know losing your starting QB will be have a big negative impact but the whole team is regressing.

I haven't felt this hopeless about a SU football team since Gerg.

Defensively, they made the change of more blitzing and attacking, but in-game, what would you have done the last 4 games? They played well in the 1st half and just got worn down in the 2nd half. I don't like feeling like we need a national championship caliber QB to be competitive. Maybe brown is great at the transfer QB game but spending money on Collins has to make you less confident. He is a defensive coach and his defense stinks. Hopefully he's good at finding starting QBs and hopefully they don't get hurt

Pitt was a disaster. Stanford was an off game, and allowing Ayomander such an easy 4th down catch was bad, but overall i thought he was a great game manager for a 1st year HC. This year hasn’t been as strong, but it is what it is. I think he has to be more assertive with the adjustments he wants to make. He speaks about the going into HT, but then you don’t see anything. I still think a lot goes back to lack of talent.

Is there a post-game Thread? Or is this it? I just read the Title. I haven't read this thread nor the Game thread (although I posted a few "gems" on it).

This may already have been said multiple times already. I posted it earlier in the week. Fran is a great recruiter. He should just do that. He can't coach. He has no idea what he's doing. Tries hard. But just does not know. I won't say, like I do with Aaron Boone (who I was just told was at the game -- I think his son is on the UNC staff), that he has no football sense (A.B. has NO baseball sense). But as great a recruiter as he is, it makes no sense to hire someone who hasn't been at least a coordinator. This shows it. John Wildhack made a mistake. Can Fran grow into being a real coach and learn? Maybe. But maybe not. He sure hasn't shown it yet. Great talker. But actions don't bear it out. What the hell was the point of putting Luke in for what - one series? Huh? And he put Joe back in because he needs someone to play QB against Miami. Can they please take that game off of TV. I really don't understand why someone would want to play for a coach and staff who don't know what they're doing.

For for those of you who have YTTV and did not find an alternative way to watch this game -- consider yourselves very fortunate. You made the right choice. I'm out.

Fran is fine he just isn’t an X an O coach so he can’t rebound if plan A goes bad. He and his staff clearly have no answers and can’t really coach up lesser talent. At a school like ours you either go heavy into a recruiter or heavy into X and Os we went recruiter this time and this is the outcome. We aren’t going to ever out coach anyone so Fran just has to hit on a big money QB1 every off season and hope he doesn’t get hurt.

John has absolutely done a horrible job. Keeping and extending Dino. Hiring autry over a national search. Choosing Fran over bob. This is what we will get next year.

If he wasn’t an alum, he wouldn’t have lasted. Fran preaches accountability. Where is it? We have a lax player playing division one at qb and starting. Accountability? We are LAST in run defense. We have had 3 delay of game penalties today. 0 completions in the first half. Yes, you read that correctly. Keeping Robinson as the d coordinator? Did I mention we are last in the acc in run defense?

This is correct and every year Fran needs to spend whatever it costs to get a QB1 a true QB1 and have Nixon or whoever the OC will throw it all over the Dome. Putting up video game numbers with proven QBs will attract WR talent.
