YesIt seems like the DC will be the LB coach as well. In my opinion

I’d be interested to know your basis for thinking this? The more I look, the more I think we should've done better.

I didn’t have much knowledge of him before the hire but looking at his resume on paper would scream excellent hire to me. He had smaller school experience before but just his power 4/NFL experience is pretty extensive:
2013-14 Texas Tech- Dline coach
2015- Jets quality control
2016- Jets assistant Dline coach
2017-18- Arkansas Dline coach
2019- South Carolina Dline coach
2020-21- Penn St Dline coach
2022- Penn state Dline coach/run game coordinator
2023- Detroit Lions Dline coach
2024-2025- Clemson volunteer
Normally we would clamor for someone who has had such vast experience in Big 12/SEC/Big 10/NFL and is still relatively young. I get the concern about his short stays but it’s very clear that every move was a step up from previous job and Penn state even promoted to keep him. With that being said, I wouldn’t expect him to stay for more than 2-3 years with his track record. If he does get poached it’ll be because he has done a good job and that’s part of Fran’s sales pitch to his assistants.
Above someone questioned his recruiting but I have a hard time thinking someone would keep climbing the ladder the way he did without being an excellent recruiter at a position where most teams want an elite recruiter. His recruiting history shows that he had pulled in a 5 star and multiple handfuls of 4 stars at his stops at PSU and S Carolina. Sure it’s easier to attract that level of talent at those schools but he at least has a history with some recruiting success.
Does it matter if the title carries little weight in reality.I would like to know if we beat them out for his services at the same title, or as they were pursuing him at a lesser title and we gave him a better one?
Just curious why his stints were so short.
Because almost every CFB coaches resume is like that. It’s a super transient job.

Yes good and bad coaches both make a lot of stops along the wayEspecially for guys like Dale Williams.

Other than Kehres, Fran seems to be stocking up on guys who either never stick anywhere for long, or seem to have flamed out from their career peak. A lot of theses guys were "analysts", meaning they haven't been field coaches for a while (including Dale Williams when he got here and and that nutty Josh Gattis).Just curious why his stints were so short.
They have another OL coach, Jeff Ambrosie. He joined before last season.Other than Kehres, Fran seems to be stocking up on guys who either never stick anywhere for long, or seem to have flamed out from their career peak. Gattis was dismissed from Maryland OC job due to the team's poor offensive performance during the 2024 season (4-8). Where have we heard that before?
I wonder why the DL needs 2 coaches but the OL only gets one. Juan Castillo was an analyst and also a rolling stone of late.
Thanks for letting me know. Looks like he has 1 year FBS experience in the worst SU offensive season in anyone's memory. They have another OL coach, Jeff Ambrosie. He joined before last season.
Edge and DT are pretty different styles.Other than Kehres, Fran seems to be stocking up on guys who either never stick anywhere for long, or seem to have flamed out from their career peak. Congrats on your optimistic view. I hope you are right. I will say, Doug Marrone was an analyst for BOB at BC in '24, and now he's doing a great job with the OL with the Patriots.Edge and DT are pretty different styles.
Oline coach should be able to handle most of the line and sometimes you will see the TE coaches help with the tackles.
We also now have assistant coaches and analyst to help out with whatever is needed.
Castillo is on of the best Oline coaches. His last few jbos (minus UCLA) where lsot due to head coach changes.
With Gattis, he was the best assistant in 2021. Maryland he was let go due to Locksly trying anythingto hang on to his job and Maryland not having or putting enough money into the Football team. They also did not have a good replacement QB after Tualia.
Don't look to deep into the title of analyst, a TON of fromer head coaches and cordinators will sit a year or two with them, it does not mean they lost their coaching abilities.
Scott Jr. NFL didn't work out for him and he went to Clemson for the last two years in their army of analyst.
I don't see any lame duck Dale William coaches being hired.
Sadly you can't trade for a QB midseason.Congrats on your optimistic view. I hope you are right. I will say, Doug Marrone was an analyst for BOB at BC in '24, and now he's doing a great job with the OL with the Patriots.
Between J Nixon (OC), Josh Gattis (former OC), Michael Johnson (former OC), and Nunzio Campanile (Offensive Associate Head Coach and former interim OC) it's shocking that they couldn't re-vector the offense to be at least somewhat functional through any point in the last 8 games. 2/3rds of the season, they came up with nothing. I can't believe Fran just let that happen. And, 3 of those coaches are still here.
The question is who is reviewing the QBs we are looking at? McCord was easy and there was enough tape on Angeli to feel confident he at least belonged on the field. The staff has otherwise failed in assessing our QB room. That can't happen again but it looks like the same decision makers are in place. Hopefully the staff does better this time around.Sadly you can't trade for a QB midseason.
Not much you can do with what we had in the bullpen.
I 100% agree Nixon should have chance it up the second Angeli went down and ivolved the QB run and outside runs. Maybe throwing a few easier read passes, who knows. I'm just rambling at this point...![]()
Nixon needs to prove he can run a functional offense no matter who he has at QB, because the object is to win games.Sadly you can't trade for a QB midseason.

I don't get the stop at Clemson - seems like a huge step down.I’d be interested to know your basis for thinking this?

I really think that after Angeli got hurt there was nothing that could work. Different blame game but in all seriousness I think “they should have come up with something” is the wrong problem statement.Yes, but if you don't have the guys to make the passes you need, they had 2 month to figure out something else that would work, and utterly failed.

He’s from Greer, SC which is a stone’s throw from Clemson’s campus. I’m assuming being near family had something to do with that landing spot and remaining there for 2 years.I don't get the stop at Clemson - seems like a huge step down.
Why would anyone want to leave Greer? He’s from Greer, SC which is a stone’s throw from Clemson’s campus. I’m assuming being near family had something to do with that landing spot and remaining there for 2 years.
Timing also factors in imo. He was fired from lions after the nfl season in Feb 2024. Most college teams have their staffs in place at that point so probably not many options for 2024 season. This past season I’m not sure why he remained there other than family close by or didn’t like his opportunities.
