I think we all knew this was going to happen but it is still a big gut punch to actually hear it. Big slap in the face to the fans.

Yup this was going to be the outcome as I noted. Do like that he was adamant about expectations and getting this fixed, confirms what I was told, Tourney or gone.

Now, that's what you call a high standard! On par with the "making a bowl game" in football, when basically a team with half a pulse, etc. can find a way to get an invite nowadays.

If SU leadership is okay with setting such a relatively low bar for its once proud hoops program (5th winningest in history counting the 101 vacated W's) where the standard is here versus competing for conference titles, high seeds in the Dance, etc. as once accustomed, well, SU shouldn't really expect anything different from the fanbase relative to $$$, interest, etc.

Wildhack said he has expectations for next season.

“The goal of this program is we should be playing meaningful games in March,’’ he said.

When asked specifically what that meant, Wildhack answered, “You know what that means. You should be playing important games in March.’’

so, ACC tournament games are meaningful and important is what he meant. Why wouldn't he be explicit about it? Why not just say it?

OK I will say it I say meaningful and important means a game on the SECOND weekend of the NCAA tournament or bust!

It does not mean "I need to take a closer look at this dumpster fire" as some had hope.

The teams barely been at. 500 on average the last 4 years, don't think were making a final four run next year even if JB in his prime was the coach. Team needs to make the tournament next year and look like it has a future or pull the plug and do a true nationwide search. I'd prefer to move on now but thats not happening so at least it's clear next year is boom or bust.

Yeah. However, IMO, it's darn right disgraceful and shameful what the SU stewards have allowed to happen to its hoops program. And, where making the Dance now, will be considered a "boom." Honestly, that's low mid-major type sentiment. Just sickening.

Indiana hasn't make the Elite 8 since 2002. They only have THREE Sweet 16s since 2002. We are the new Indiana. At least they have B1G money to maybe one day pull themselves out.

He has to show full support. There is no other choice at this point if Red is to be back.

I expect a full and complete support statement at end of season.

If it's a half ass short lease support than Red is completely doomed, how is he (or Kline) supposed to go out and drum up NIL support in the off season? How is Red going to recruit from HS or even the portal if EVERYONE knows he is a one year lame duck?

He basically did this when Dino faltered. Set the clear expectation publicly and then fired him the following season when said goal was missed.

Orange Nation needs to ask JW if Red has "contract language that reduces the amount of money owed him if he is let go before the end of his contract".

No need to ask for actual payout dollar amounts because no AD would ever state the potential dollar amounts owed.

We need need to know if Red has a 100% guaranteed contract and if the answer is yes, then the follow up questions are why did you give a first time coach a fully guaranteed contract? Did you think things were going great when JB retired?

Get an S&C program where guys actually gain weight and strength. What has happened the last 10+ years is subpar.

Let's hope that with Red coming back for at least (likely) 1 year that JW makes it known to Hodgson's agent (and any other coach's agent he is seriously interested in) that Syracuse is very interested in them so they can decide if the Syracuse job is worth waiting a year for.

Good AD's always say they have a list of potential coaches they would immediately contact if they need to make a coaching hire. Good AD's should know ahead of time who would be interested and likely to come to their school. Good AD's don't start from scratch a coaching search only after an opening occurs.

JW may have a list of contacts but I doubt he would make such a contact at the same time he is endorsing Red for a third year to another coach to do a "wink wink we are very interested if this doesn't work out next year".

First of all I think it's a violation to make such contact without permission. He is the AD and he can't do this.

Secondly to do such a thing will immediately make the targeted coach wonder what kind of AD will do such a thing, if I get hired one day would you be doing the same to me talking to another coach about replacing me.

Thirdly Syracuse is the last school to make BB coach decisions because they had designated a Head Coach In Waiting and they can't even make that happen and allowed that to be derailed.

He didn't use those exact words obviously but he made it pretty easy to read between the lines.
