Sorry I'm late to the party here, but I have been out all day. Anyhow, a few tidbits.

1) I've known John pretty well for at least a dozen years, and, as others have said, he's a great guy who bleeds orange. (We suffered together during the Bernie Fine thing when his employer was being so irresponsible and John was powerless to do anything).

2) In the early days of syracusefan.com, John was a regular poster here ... and chat room participant. That is how I first got to know him.

3) His brother Henry Wildhack worked in the SU Athletic Department for a few years early in the Daryl Gross era. I could never figure out exactly what Henry did ... and I assumed Daryl hired him with the thought he could be a conduit to John. It apparently did not work out.

I'm glad to hear your take on #1. Bad time for everyone who bleeds Orange.

I knew Hank Wildhack casually when he was a freshman at SU. He was a friend of my girlfriend at the time. When SU hired him, I was caught off-guard because I did not see any qualifications.

As always Joyce, thank you for your input. What is missing is your personal thoughts on the hire. Do you believe this to be a good direction for Syracuse University?

That's really going to be funny to see John typing into the chatroom on his phone every time they show him at a game now. Oh - is he not going to do the chat room anymore??????

Great financial background - great guy - smart - lots of contacts.

The whole post is pretty cool... but this tidbit is out of this world.

Also found out he was president of the Fraternity with 2 of my uncles at SU.

Joyce, I was wondering when you'd chime in with your impressions.

LOVE what you had to say with your first bullet!!!

Also love this hire!
