I'm in the casino for an event here in Vegas, see the Incarnate Word vs St. Johns spread is the Johnnies -7.5 and I know they blow but they looked solid enough where they should win by 10+ in this game, decide to throw a solid chunk of change on the Red Storm and they're getting smoked at home...

seriously. we let this team score 84 and they have 38 tonight midway thru the 2nd half vs INCARNATE WORD... and the game before ours, they managed 48 against NIAGARA.

ok, I was pretty sure of it last week but now I am positive our loss to SJ was the worst Syracuse loss (considering margin and pts allowed) since Depaul '06.

Come on man, that's iggy-like hyperbole. SU lost that game by 40. They were still within a few plays of being in the SJU game right down to the last few minutes.

You NAILED it on the head. I love the zone (look at my username) but common sense says that there is zero chance that our man to man is worse than IW's, we simply need to move out of the zone when the time is right. We let SJ relax with the ball the entire time, they swung the ball around the outside until somebody was open and just nailed open shots. That doesn't happen M2M.

Yeah, you're right, I didn't read your post carefully enough. FWIW, I think that Georgetown beatdown in 2013 before the Final 4 run was the worst. So maybe good things are in store like in 2006 (the GMac BET show) and 2013...

The Problem Is That The Zone Did Not Adjust. We continued to play the passing lanes. The top of the zone should have locked down on their two shooters. the zone cn be flexible enough to use man to man principles when called for. We should have stopped going for steals and turnovers, stopped trapping etc. You can still play zone and stay on your man when he is in your area. This reminded me of Vermont although Vermont was a much better team. Every Cuse coach knows how to adjust the zone. What went wrong?
