I know we have our gripes against Dr. Tucker, but when you read things like this, you can see why the school is probably being overly cautious.

Division II CB Grays dies from in-game injury
Terrible situation, sobering to read and put myself in the family's shoes.

I don't want to slight this kid or his family with comments that will sound insensitive to many.

However, I struggle to see a connection between the potential for harm in the game and a risk adverse administrative posture.

It is a brutal and dangerous game.

If they are worrying about kids getting hurt or dying, why have a program?

What real harm will befall Midwestern State as a result of this? Is a wrongful death or medical malpractice suit going to blink them out of existence?

Such an injury can happen to anyone, regardless of physical condition.

Totally agree, and was not trying to lend cover to Dr. T by posting, just wanted to offer the impetus of fear from the administration. To add, all cases are certainly different, like Stevens, and of course every player assumes risk as does the school by sanctioning the team.

Everything we do has risks. Nothing we do is completely safe. You can die or be injured anywhere at any time, and that is the truth of living. Some people want a low risk lifestyle, and that is their prerogative, but nothing is without risk or completely safe.
Life with no risk is being a vagetable, and even vegetables get eaten.

I wish our government saw things this way.

Results of Florida WR James Robinson's heart condition still unknown

Not cleared to play but not disqualified from playing yet either.

"Florida coach Jim McElwain on Wednesday said freshman wide receiver James Robinson visited a heart specialist in Philadelphia last week but is still not cleared to play.

“All the stuff’s being read by the specialists right now,” McElwain said. “There’s still a little bit of time before we know exactly the results.”

McElwain previously announced on Sept. 6 that Robinson took an echocardiogram and that Robinson “had something show up” on the test.

Robinson is a 6-foot-4, 205-pound receiver from Lakeland. He was a 4-star recruit and the 14th ranked receiver in the Class of 2017"

Imagine that, waiting for the specialist to decide if the player is eligible. I hope SU gets there....and I mean a 21st century medical staff

Probably not anytime soon.

Same with our foreign policy.
