Delete if there's already a thread about him, but man was he big time today. With Zeed atleast back around the team, if down the stretch we could have Zeed, JRS, Meeks, Pena and Gadsden all cookin, that's some SERIOUS weapons. Was curious when we'd see him unleashed and he looks like a grown man out there. Love to see it, and especially love to see a local boy out there doing it in the Dome.

Everyone talking about Allen and I agree he was great today but the player of the game today was JRS. He provided the spark on offense when we were dead in the water. Hopefully he stays healthy and Hatcher and Gill never see the field again.

You can tell he still doesn't have that burst so it's obvious why he hasn't been playing. He was probably the #3 portal pick up, but hamstrings are tough. I blew mine in baseball and I couldn't push it for 3+ months. He definitely still was hesitant or couldn't hit that extra gear, or even keep speed running down the sideline. When he's fully healthy he will help the offense a ton because he gives you that deep threat that we lost with Zeed, but also uses his body to make tough catches.

He was a slot guy not a deep burner. Zeed is the only guy with enough speed but I doubt those go routes are even an option with our pass pro. Maybe we see zeed in a couple weeks if he is indeed working his way back.

Agreed.

Hatcher and Gill shouldn't play anymore as well. JRS is great big body good route runner solid set of hands. We get another year of him right?

syracuse.com article confirms that he is only about 80% right now per Fran, so that explains why he wasn't as fast on the TD, but he still got the job done

And he is a big strong receiver who apparently has good hands, and is a load to bring down.

It's so weird that we have fans that are so willing to give up on guys like this.

They don't make every play, but they do make plays that have contributed to winning. And they're developing, they're not finished products.
This has been an ongoing issue for hatcher

It’s not giving up on players. It’s recognizing that at this stage of the season, they are behind others I the rotation. I’d roll with OG, Meeks, Peña and JRS.

Hatcher’s “fight” on that 50-50 ball wasn’t high major level. Gill needed to get down and not fight for yards in that situation. Gill’s mistake was lack of experience.

Especially if Zeed comes back. Zeed-Meeks-Pena-OG-JRS Hatcher and Gill should be down the depth chart and in perfect world not see the field until it is garbage time :)

Gill is developing. Hatcher is a redshirt junior, he is what he is at this point. He's been outplayed in 1v1 situations for turnovers 4-5 times. If JRS health keeps improving and Zeed returns, we're going to keep seeing less and less Gill and Hatcher.

Yea Hatcher has made a couple plays throughout his career but when you’re best known for your blocking at WR we need another option. JRS when fully healthy is extremely good. It’s a shame he’s been hurt all year. he’s definitely not close to 100% either. It’s so easy to re-injure a hamstring if it’s not fully healed and you push it. Terrible injury.

The thing that I think of with Hatcher is, super talented, but he has no clue how to become a defensive back when the defender has a better chance at the ball.

Agreed, but 1) he made the play against NC State when we needed him to and 2) we don't even have another guy on the roster we even try to make that pass to. I think it's a really bad idea to completely remove the threat of verticality from an offense that already runs a lot of east west action.

Another two thoughts, 1) yeah, Hatcher's fight on that play could have been better, but there was a case for defensive PI that didn't get flagged, and he has also drawn those flags and made some of those catches in other game this season. He just didn't make that play in this game, and again from my comment just above, we don't even try making that pass to anyone else. 2) I agree OG, Meeks, Pena are our main passing threats, but we're sure putting a lot on a guy that's 80% that's been invisible up until today, so I'm going to suggest there's a whole lot of recency bias in your proposal related to rolling with JRS. Also, we need a WR rotation. We just saw Babers play relatively few guys at the WR spot. It's not ideal! We're getting better production from our WRs, and part of that is probably because they're not out there running routes and blocking on every single play. Hatcher and Gill are in the rotation. That's a good thing!

Yeah honestly its one that his ass on the bench for a whole game would fixm at least after thst play for rest of game. I would lose my mind as a Reciever coach. Its happened all year. Anytimeit gets hard for him he stops. killsme

I have watched too much Mountain West football living out here. I have been so bullish on JRS providing a physical presence at WR that this team desperately needs. When healthy, he's also a legit deep threat. Great game from him and hope he keeps getting healthier.

Was very disappointed in that Hatcher play as well. It should have been PI in my opinion, but still. He’s gonna get a real earful during the film analysis. He is missing the T in DART
