One thing - LeQuint was going to be a big part of the passing game. This guy isn't that.

Really good add with the Lequint uncertainty. I love the addition of a short powerful back that can cut like this with good acceleration and still has solid speed.

Id say that Dino probably got a heads up from someone who would know how things are going to shake out shortly
I would say no. This is insurance in case things don't go well though. No one knows for certain which way the wind is going to blow on this one. As the head of the program, he has to assume that things won't go our way. If they do, so much the better. If they don't, and you don't at least try and prepare for the worst, shame on you.

He caught 3 passes.

Ha. Well they showed all 3 of them. I guess that’s why they call them highlights. So you may be correct.

But none of their other RB’s caught any balls either if that means anything.

Brahman had 107 Carries and had 3 catches.
Eldridge had 90 Carrie’s and had 1 catch.

Just my opinion but this feels like a move we make because we have a sense things aren’t going to go our way with the LA suspension. We already added a Juco RB in Hawkins who we thought would just be a depth piece, and if that was the case our assumed top 3 RBs would’ve been 1. LA 2. Price 3. Hawkins. Decent experience to spell our lead back, no real need to add another Juco, especially when you consider behind those 3 we have a highly rated Ike Daniels who was a nice recruiting win for us. It just feels to me like our staff knows which way this suspension is going to end up going.

Why not wait two more days before granting a commitment then?

I get the insurance aspect, but the timing tells me he has been given a heads up to expect the worst.

Agreed. Too early for anyone to know how things will shake out.

This feels like a leave no stone unturned / swing for the fences type of move, given the unusual eligibility situation, the kid dropping off the radar but reappearing at Blinn CC a few years later, etc. With these types of moves, sometimes you hit a triple, sometimes you strike out.

If Branham pans out, then the gamble pays off.
