Judah Mintz: Manisa Basket in Turkey

Not a great first q, but his game has matured a lot. He's put the work in the weight room, looks a lot stronger, and he's doing a really good job looking for and setting up his teammates. Has an assist but missed on some others because his teammates missed the buckets. Got fouled near the end of the half and made 1 of 2, then was part of a good half court trap and got a layup to end the 1st q. He did have a turnover in traffic and air balled a three on the negative side.
3rd qtr he made some good plays that won’t show up in box score. Took a charge and forced a turnover. Also hit all his fts

Yeah he had a good game. He was really involved in conversations with the coaching staff. He looked like a guy that's in the plans for the 76ers. He's really good as a defensive pest. I think that's his role. Pattern his game after TJ McConnell, except instead of the shooting he's a drive and dish/get hacked guy.

I thought he played well as the game developed. Played key minutes for his team in the 4th quarter. Forgot how good Judah was getting to the foul line.

I love watching summer league to see all the rookies and the free agents. Edgecombe will be an exciting player for the Sixers.

These games mean nothing but you get all these guys fighting for roster spots and minutes so there can be a lot of intensity. This game played out well for Utah and they did have a bunch of guys who could possibly play a lot of minutes this season: Collier, Filipowski, Williams, Sensabaugh, Bailey and Clayton Jr.

Glad you guys went. It looked like a great atmosphere.

I don't think many would say Mintz wasn't a special talent while wearing orange. I think most, including myself, were just frustrated that he didn't do some things different because he was so gifted. He seems like he could have been a high level defender had he chosen. He could have also included others more - as a PG he should have. That all said, hopefully he will continue to improve and make it on a team.
He was playing great towards the end of last season and would have had an opportunity to be called up and play a few games when the Sixers season was pretty much over, but he got hurt. Hopefully, he will pick up from where he left off and will get a chance to be called up from time to time. McCain might be ahead of him though.

It's one exhibition game, but Edgecombe looked like a potential all-star. The tools and skill are obvious. His jumper looks weird though. Something's off about his form.

The best thing for the Jazz is that Sensabaugh and Filipowski looked like a class above summer league. They're solidly NBA guys. Clayton Jr. looks ready to play, and I was surprised how good he was as a passer setting up other guys. He seemed gassed at one point in the first half but he seemed to work through it ok. It was also really good to see Cody Williams play well. He had a rough rookie season and might still be a year away from making the leap to contributing much (he's still really thin) but you can see the 3 and D potential. Ace was good when he played within the offense, not so much when he played "I got this," but you can see the defensive potential too. He can be a really good two way player.

The one guy that had a rough game and it kind of surprised me was Collier. He played well at the end of last season, but had a tough game. Lot of fouls, lot of bad shots, didn't seem to be taking it seriously. He's fighting for the starting point guard job and you would have hoped to see more from a guy like that. It's just one exhibition though.

The Jazz are going to be bad but they do have some fun young guys. I expect they'll be summer league darlings because between Collier, Clayton Jr. and Harkless they'll get good point guard minutes. That's where I've seen summer league breakdown. Direct correlation between the quality of play and how good each team's summer league point guards are.

I'll be at the game Tuesday with a friend. Still figuring out if I'll use tomorrow's ticket or not.

I was surprised they had Collier and Clayton Jr on the floor at the same time. Plus in the later part of the game they had Harkness playing the three while those two were in A little different. They talked about how Williams has gotten a lot stronger. If he could ever develop into a player similar to his brother then the Jazz will be somewhat of a factor with him and Bailey and Markennen. And Kessler/Filipowski in the middle. Not bad.

Plus, with Clarkson and S e x ton both gone, Sensabugh has an inside track for a lot of minutes. It was great to see.

Yeah Collier and Clayton on the floor at the same time seems like one of those things that you experiment with in summer league but if you only see it in the regular season in an "in case of emergency break glass" roster situation.

I don't think Williams will ever be as good as his brother, but he could end up having a Wes Johnson like career. Capable of spot starting and giving strong bench minutes.

Hopefully Hendricks comes back healthy. He makes the front court even more interesting. I do worry they're wasting Markinnen's prime years.

The mission this year is to develop the youth but not so well that they convey their pick to OKC. I think they need to pick 8th or below. They'll probably be one of the worst teams in the NBA though so they should be able to make that happen.

Would be great to see Judah getting real run and being on a roster consistently. Hope maybe Cole can finally break through as well. Then you get guys like Donnie and so forth and get back to having 5-10 guys or more in the league.

Judah with another impressive summer league outing today. Led team with 26 points in a win. Still struggles with the 3 ball, but has improved playing with pace and decision making. Also is better at playing on ball D.
He's been really good all three games.

That will ultimately keep him out of the league

That and his physical stature. He's a really good finisher, good at drawing contact, good ball handler and solid on ball defender. But the inability to even be a moderate three-point threat as a guard and having such a small frame taking an 82-game beating in the league will probably be his downfall. Definitely rooting for him to find a role somewhere in the league though.

He's gotten a lot stronger and bigger. Live he was actually one of the better built guards.

I don't know. Even if he looks more bulked up, he still has a really skinny frame and he gets bumped and bounced around in the lane really easily. I know that some of that is embellishment on his part to draw fouls, but he did get fouled on an and 1 in the lane and I thought that he might be deceased.

I think that's just how he plays.

Judah is a talented, not-NBA player. Just not a playmaker in the half court and can’t hit threes.

Could have such a good career as a pro overseas if he wants.
