Judah Mintz: Manisa Basket in Turkey

Judah is a talented, not-NBA player. Just not a playmaker in the half court and can’t hit threes.

Could have such a good career as a pro overseas if he wants.
The world needs Euro league players too.

If he stays at SU, he has an extra 2mm in his pocket, improving his game and his 3pt shot, he has everything else. IMO he would have benefitted staying and putting up gaudy #’s while making $$$

I don't think his 3 point shot would improve. He knew that he had to fix that going in to his sophomore year and it looked just as bad.

Looks better today, hope it works out for the kid. He does lack in confidence thats for sure

His on-ball defense jumped out at me yesterday! Didn't see that here.
Yeah, I don't think people realized that Judah continues to develop as a basketball player. He's a lot better than he was in a Syracuse uniform. It's evident that he's worked hard in the weight room and on his skills.

I know people get weird about cross racial comparisons, but TJ McConnell is the model for him. Be a defensive menace/hustle guy, and swap McOnnell's shooting for Judah's playmaking.

The assumption was that he was wanted, and that he wanted to play in college. If the later were true, he could have found a landing spot. Good for him chasing the dream.

He had the tools but not a consistent focus on defense while here. He was out of position after driving, falling down so often on offense that he wasn’t a factor too often on defense, particularly transition defense. He used to complain about calls taking himself out of the next play. He’s grown up and it’s so nice to see him working hard to become the player he always could be. Fun watching players develop.

I agree he’s a good role model for Judah, but I think you’re underestimating McConnell on that one. There is no swap. McConnell’s playmaking is also much better than Judah’s in addition to his shooting and hustle/defense. Averaging 5+ assists in his career so far in 10 NBA seasons. I saw him a lot when he was here in Philly back when we were trusting “the process”. He’s really good and I think was a case of him being under valued until he showed what he could do.

Fair enough.

I actually thought he was a solid on-ball defender here - when he actually dedicated himself to it, which was few and far between.
Yeah, but his foot speed, lateral quickness was different to me... It wasn't the handsy reachy thing that he got a lot of steals from when he was here. He was attacking the ball handler.. At one point he put his hands behind his back and kept cutting the dude off. Could be a one off, but strong on ball defender is always a good starting point.

Agree 100%!
