Just some random thoughts from the game:
1). A lot is being made of the play of our defense of line, and rightfully so. But we cannot overlook how well the secondary played yesterday. Florida State wide receivers did not get much separation all game long. Would also like to point out the play by Andre Cisco on the wide receiver option throw. He was deeper than the FSU wideout. That kid has incredible instincts.
2). Really didn’t see much difference in team speed out there yesterday. I don’t know if that means FSU’s recruiting has been off recently, or maybe their players are thinking too much, or maybe just maybe, our team speed has gotten to where it needs to be.
3). Bubble screens seem to work a lot better when the ball gets to the sideline two steps quicker than other quarterbacks. Got to give Devon butler he’s do credit blocking on those screens as well. He was fantastic.
4). Dare to dream! It’s possible we could get off to a 7-1 start.
5). If you are instructing your players to fake cramps to slow down another team, you’re teaching your players that they are inferior .
6). That is one discombobulated and confused football team at Florida State. I don’t think Willie ever gets it turned around.
7). I really love the way Dino went to Howard in the second half. I have to think that was on purpose to get fresh legs against the tire defense. And Hiward looks like the real deal
8). Still a bit concerned about our overall offense. We just don’t have the fire power that we had the past couple of years to make big plays. We’re gonna have to slug it out on a little more this year.
9). Let’s get healthy, let’s stay healthy, and let’s win some more football games!
Oh, and the best parts of the day we’re the Bon Jovi singalong just after the DeVito TD run and the very loud “Whose House, Our House” chant led by Mungro(?)
