Just want to come back from Death Valley healthly.....

this is nuts. The home field was humongous last year and played every bit the part. Alabama is probably the only team that would be favored to win down there.
Home Field advantage was huge. Experience is huge. Improved OL and DL are huge. As I said it’s a long shot. Last year people gave us no shot. Okay, not “no shot”. But the betting line was even higher in favor of Clemson last year, I believe.

Do you think they will let me storm the field when we win? ;)

You should ask the Pitt board how they did that when they won at Death Valley 2 years ago.
Be prepared!

Early last year we played at Lsu, at Miami, at Fsu, at Nc state and had a good chance to win each game. I want the team to show me that they have improved since then.

What I saw as I watched replay of last year twice was our dline did a good job against their oline first. Second we jumped on then right away and made them pass more than run. Third we blocked their studs on dline fairly well considering I thought our oline sucked at the time. They would get pressure but off a blitz. Any true football player at any level would love to be on Su team going down there in a hostile environment with an x on your back. We won’t see a better team this year so we will become better by just playing them. This is a challenge of the most high regard to guys like Dungey and Slayton and especially Robinson. Clemson lb can’t cover our nats I don’t think. So I am hoping this goes well and I feel it should. I am super excited and can’t wait. Hoping neither team has injuries but this will be a game of hits. Let’s go SU.

Agreed...love to see the Orange finish this one and put it in the W column. Being in the games has been a heck of a lot better than what they've done in the resent past, not just one game they were in but all.

What were LSU and Miami ranked year when SU played them?

Lawrence will get hurt before Dungey. He is one Robinson Slayton sandwich away from coming off.

First game all year we're going up against a team with a better oline and dline. Need the dline to get pressure on their QB or it will be a looooooooooooooong game.

We had no problem moving the ball down th field against the same D-Line last year, plus our defensive line is much better and their OL is a weakness. I’m pretty sure you just made that statement without really knowing and just assuming.

I really don’t understand posts like these.
Nothing malicious just an objective observation. Always in the back of a coaches mind. This isn't flag football.

I mean...how can we say who will get hurt before who? Guys get hit all the time. I assume our guy will take more hits because he runs so much. Who knows? I don’t expect their kid to fold like a cheap tent and get carted off after a sack or two just because he’s young.

Hope our DL keeps up its outstanding play and is able to get a lot of pressure, and hopefully Ward dials up some timely blitzes.

Feels like a lot of people are thinking you guys have improved while we have regressed. I'm not sure I see it that way.

Trust me I don’t think you have regressed at all. I do think Syracuse has significantly improved. I was just commenting on those 2 groups since I responded to someone’s comment referencing that

I have to say, I agree. We are much improved from what we were trotting out there in November of last year, but last Sept/Oct we were a pretty good football team and only an absolutely ridiculous early schedule (and a huge What loss in week 2) kept the record from really reflecting that.

We are improved in some areas(specials, depth, both lines) from when we played Clemson a year ago, but weaker in others(WR, LB).

In another year, I think we’ll be significantly better than this year or last year. There are a lot of awfully young and promising players contributing right now.

Clemson O-Line has protected the passer well. Each of the previous 4 opponents managed to get just 1 sack a game. 4 games 4 sacks. Furman 1 sack LB and Nose guard .5, Tex AM 1 sack DT, Georgia Southern 1 LB, GA Tech 1 DT and LB each .5 Tells me 3 sacks with blitz and 1 strait up. Lawrence sacked once.

I'm sure you guys have improved. I just also think that Clemson has as well.
