Just wondering if anyone knew or at least met Coach Nick Monroe and what were your thoughts on the guy?
A Minnesota fan friend of mine was curious after meeting him and I had nothing bc I never met the guy, I only know what was reported and my "lit" Imagination.
Any casual thoughts on the solid recruiter and great family man?

Very personable and funny. Seemed like a good family man. Just a normal guy, someone you could knock beers back with. I worked at the service department where he had his car serviced. We handled several coaches vehicles, he was the only one who actually brought it in himself and didnt need special treatment

How much special treatment is warranted for assistant football coach’s?Who would actually know who the heck they are?

Nick is a tremendous person and coach. His players love him and he seems to get the most of of them because they love him. I consider him a friend. He’s a really regular guy who just loves football, loves competing and loves recruiting.m

He was a good fit here as a guy who grew up on Minnesota but he took his dream job to coach the gophers where his father once coached. Cant blame him for that but he legit loved Cuse.

I will always root for him and his teams / DB units.

He lived up the street from me while he was coaching here. Nice guy, family was super and respectful.

Worked early on in the twitter days on some items with him and also presented well with me at that time.

Dumb nickname and his reputation exceeded his results here.

Weird flex and take.

Sure he’s not the caliber recruiter that we have now with Fran and co but he was easily one of our best recruiters in a very long time during his time here at Syracuse.

Great dude, one of the few that actually would respond to you if you sent an email etc.

Not a flex at all...his recruiting was mediocre and the safety play was below par for a few seasons during his tenure. He might be a good guy - never met him, but I always found the nickname odd.

Recruiters are salesmen. They do better when they have a good product to sell. No telling how much better he would recruit now than when we were wallowing in mediocrity.

Anyone taking on a role in coaching, teaching or anything really should not be referred to as daddy.
Its extremely unprofessional and inapproriate. It makes me question his judgement, assuming he was given that nickname and accepted it. I sure hope it was not a name he gave himself.
Like I said I do not know him thats why I asked, however any child of mine will not be recruited by a "daddy". I find it absolutely disgusting and repulsive.
J P U: not sure why you got included here but wow...Assistant football coaches expect special treatment?

I have a hard time respecting a person teaching and/or coaching children and/or young adults or even men, in fact anyone that accepts the nickname with "daddy" included.
Nothing will ever change my mind on this.
Nothing can be said to make it even appropriate...at all.

However, I am more than willing to listen to anyone that wants to defend the nickname...
I hope someone can prove my position wrong.

His use of emojis was on point. Dude would say entire sentences with emojis. Always loved trying to figure out what he was saying.
