Juwan Howard

He never apologized in his post game presser. He has no remorse. He made a comment he was protecting hImself.
Hate to say it but based on social chatter the race issue is already raising its ugly head. How about simply holding individuals accountable for their actions regardless of color, sex political or religious beliefs.

Can Damien name another coach who physically went after another coach two years in a row and threatened to kill one?
Not sure Bobby?

Handshake lines are good. One incident every thousand NCAA games and a few every 50,000 high school games is not a reason to cancel them. Character is still a thing. Not being able to deal with a loss and act like a human being with perspective shouldn’t be the new normal.

I‘m kinda sick of these adults being unable to handle those nebulous ‘unwritten rules,’ across all sports. And, at the same time, I can understand how people take offense to what might seem like little **** to casual onlookers. These coaches and players are involved in this event emotionally, so a bit of ‘disrespect‘ is amplified versus what we experience. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often. In baseball, they settle it by throwing at you, and that, somehow, is accepted. In hockey, you throw the gloves down. No recourse in most other sports, though, so this happens.

Not an excuse for this, but we have to recognize context and that there isn’t an even ‘playing field’ across all sports.

Howard should be suspended for a significant period for the first level of this, but probably fired for the ‘second strike’ and ’third strike’ being the result, which inevitably led to players being involved in the escalation.

Howard was pissed because Wisconsin took a timeout late in their blowout win. Howard had made it quite obvious that he was ticked off big time before the altercation, initially avoiding the handshake line. Sorry but why make it such a big deal - he could have left it questionable whether the Wisconsin staff were being jerks by calling it or he was overreacting. Well Howard now left everyone knowing who the bigger jerk is and how he lacks any self control. Not good
He was reportedly pressing against Wisconsin’s bench. End of game courtesy goes both ways. Calling timeout to help your players gain composure is teaching and coaching. I had a game where I had my team just killing the clock and they sprung a trap and double teamed. When my player took it to the rack I was ok with it. The opposing coach wasn’t.

I have no problem with him being upset and calling out Gard in the line. You absolutely cannot throw a punch.

Only comparable incident I can think of was one before my time.

Woody Hayes punching the Clemson player in that Gator Bowl. And they fired him soon after that incident I believe and he was a living legend.

2nd incident with opposing coach, pattern of behavior, underachieving season, fire him for cause, get out of paying buy out. Seems like win/win for UM Administration.

Talked to a Mich fan, I said he about to fired for cause, his response, 5 or 6 game suspension

Maybe raging Fran McCaffrey.

I have seen Jimmy Patsos go insane a lot.

Agreed. I don’t even have a problem with snubbing someone in line. A handshake should mean something. I don’t shake if I don’t mean it. But (ideally) you can walk away from the next level of ‘disagreement.’ But, that’s not how humans work. Something gets said, and people respond. It’s unfortunate, but a punch shouldn’t be among the resolution options.

Let’s be honest, the only way Howard gets fired is if UM was already considering it b/c they aren’t happy with his coaching. Then this is an easy excuse to do it and look like the university is taking the high road. If he won a national championship last year it wouldn’t matter what he did, there’d be zero question he’d be coaching and just face some sort of disciplinary action.
