Kadary

JB also had it in his hands at the end of the game.

Who knows what will happen, but that sure felt like the passing of the lead guard role... One can hope.

IMO, the three things Kadary has to work on just a bit:
1) He gets his guy in the lane and he has size advantage, he has to start learning how to do the one-handed shot that Kawhi does in the lane when he has an advantage. It's not a bad look now for Kadary, but if he could make it a little more frequently, he would cook there and prob get fouled.

2) When he's got a 1 on 1 to attack, he has to go to the rim aggressively. Saw it on the steal and then him trying the behind the back pass to AG. He's got to go up and go up strong there. He's better than these guys and has to take advantage.

3) Less so for Kadary, but the guys on the floor have to be ready for passes from Kadary. The behind the back pass should have been caught and laid in, but that was still an iffy decision. However, AG wasn't even paying attention to another pass from Kadary to him on the baseline that he just totally missed.

The thing I really enjoy is it seems like the guys are starting to get more comfortable getting the ball back to Kadary if a set is blown up or just stopped in its tracks. They seem to be gaining confidence that he can run it back/reset and those guys will get the ball back from KR once he starts the new play.

On that around the back pass -- I don't think it was an iffy decision, or even flashy. It was the only way he could deliver the ball, and he did it without hesitaiton.

Now, it was close to AG, so I'm not surprised he mishandled it -- but it was a terrific look, IMO.

His defense and ability to disrupt and force turnovers and tip and take away passes is obviously elite.

What I liked yesterday was the way he was looking to get others the ball in their spots, and in favorable matchups. He’s done this at times, but I thought yesterday he did an especially good job of it. That’s PG stuff. His unselfishness and smarts in looking for the right people in the right spots makes the team and offense better.

Well we do have the worst collection of hands in the NCAA it seems at times.. We probably lost 15-20 balls last night because we just dont catch or holdon to the dang thing..

Remember 2 parts to making a pass.. make it and catch it..

if you dont think he can catch it you dont pass it.. Thats a great pass in a tight spot.. But if you want to make that pass easier to catch bounce it. harder to throw easier to catch.

Best talent we have had in a very long time. He makes the team exponentially better. The pressure he puts on a defense cant be understated. He demands attention. Once he finds his jumper, which he will watch out.
Add in Benny and possibly Quincy and Griff retuning, along with Woody (who hopefully stays), and we’ll have some pretty good talent for next season. Our biggest issue remains at center and along the back line. We just don’t have enough length for defense and rebounding with Griff and Q (both undersized in height and length) at the forwards and Marek at center. Let’s hope Frank develops, Marek returns and/or we land a transfer center.

It's hilarious to me that we had a defensive terror fall into our laps. We didn't plan on that. It wasn't what we thought we were getting. But it showed up.

And rather than lean into it we delay getting that impact on the floor until midway through the first half.

He's third in offensive efficiency, too! It is insane that he doesn't start and play most of the game.

Kadari is a stud and very versatile in so many ways!! It's obvious to me and many other people I'm sure that he should be starting. He already brings up the ball as a point guard when he's in the game, he's got way more length and better defensively than Girard is and is it really that bad? I think Girard would be a pretty good six man coming off the bench so I don't understand would boeheim is doing here??

The kid there isn't much that he can't do. He can get to the rack almost anytime he wants and when somebody else comes to help he's a very good passer as well and like I said before he's much better at the top of the zone then Girard is So it seems like a no-brainer to me!

I wasn't going to bring that up.

And the guy who is our WORST defender, AND also WORST volume shooter -
has the greenest of green lights, and plays 40 minutes every game.

You can't make this stuff up.

proof positive that JB doesn't do advanced stats, or listen to KenPom, or any of that.

Let's just hope he's in a cuse uniform for more than one year which my only fear with that is certain Agents get to him and pump his head up and cause him to exit early. more than two would be outstanding but with what usually happens here with kids leaving early I'm not sure that's possible. With this kids make up and the way he's playing as a true freshman next year I think he's going to be outstanding.

I'm not as caught up about khadary starting as some folks seem to be, rather I just want to see more versatility in our lineups. It's probably too late at this juncture but I would've loved to see Woody & Bras as part of the regular rotation, anything but Buddy playing 35+ minutes come hell or high water. That just seems so inefficient and wasteful to me. As a result, we're likely to see Woody walk away, frustrated and confused like most of us are at his lack of opportunity.
And can we please get away from the "he had his chances" nonsense? Woody got extended minutes, not coincidentally when Buddy was out, and the kid performed. His being buried under the doghouse by JB is unconscionable.

kadary is still a freshman. he makes a lot of mistakes and cant shoot the three. He has a lot of things to improve on...decision making wise there are plenty of moments throughout the game that he doesnt do the optimal thing. there was a stretch in the 2nd half when he turned it over 2 or 3 possessions in a row on poor choices.

He's a great player and fun to watch...I'm sure he will develop into an elite player and I personally think he will have a good career in the NBA eventually. But he really isn't there yet...or really that close.

Now, do the other players on the team also make bonehead and bad decisions? yes.

I really don't care if he starts or not...i think he needs to play a lot of minutes for the team to be as successful as it can be...but it doesnt matter if he starts or not, imo.

I get why people are so fascinated by him...but lets not pretend he is miles better than the other players on the team. He is the only point gaurd really...which makes him invaluable. but i still think joe and buddy have their plce in the rotation as well.

I wish the rotations were more unpredicatable and deeper...and that the team would press more.

But I think i see kadaary for what he is...a great freshman who has a lot of areas for improvement to work on before he becomes ready for the NBA.

Kadary has the most potential to be miles better. JB needs to give Kadary the keys.
If Kadary played 25-30" all season (as should have) then with expected improvement his TO's and teammates not expecting his passes would be fewer.
We'd have a much clearer trajectory to use in projecting how far he'll go and how fast he'll get there.

Sure BB and JGlll have their place-
But this team is begging for a Floor General -AND WE HAVE ONE!

IMHO, this team isn't much fun to watch when Kadary isn't on the floor.

Once Kadary gets a feel for the other team on both ends everything changes. It's fun to watch as sometimes it is instantaneous and others it takes a few possessions. You get that from the start of every game and everything is different. His defense gets teammates going and QG eats well with KR in there.
