Kelly bryant may not start

You're better than this.
I wasn't then and am not now happy about the intentional head hunting by a lot of players in the ACC against Dungey. And he got little protection from the refs like it was OK because he played for Syracuse. I'm not advocating anything dirty against Lawrence, but short of that I'd like to see him play under extreame duress.

I am still figuring out what I think will happen ... The default is that they cover and while we put up a fight, ultimately we don't have enough to pull off an upset two years in a row.

But, Venables does have trouble with our O and Dino showed that they know how to attack them. Our OL is better than they were last year. Eric causes problems.

On D - do they have a passer that can dissect our coverages? Can they block our improved DL all game?

I think we have a shot.
Venables vs. your O - Agreed. He's slow to get playcalls in
Dungey causing problems - Yep. He's good.
Can we block your DL? - Sure, but probably won't do a great job of it.
Do we have a passer that can dissect your coverages? - Yes.

Actually, I don't think he is.
Bouleware took that shot at his head and neck on purpose. As did many others in the last couple years. You wonder why Dungey is angry, he's been targeted and left out to dry.

I found the hit. Didn't look dirty at all, even adjusted for Boulware standards.

What you are saying now is different than what you originally wrote. It was a terrible hit that I don't remember anyone (outside of internet people) thinking wasn't egregious.

Syracuse d-line has really put a beating on QB's so far this year. How many hits has Lawrence taken? Maybe he'll get the same type of hit that Bouleware put on Dungey 2 years ago.

Clemson is looking beyond Syracuse and the ACC. They need to compete with Bama, UGA, OSU and PSU and at least the first three have significantly better QB's than Bryant. They need to close the gap.

I dont think QB play will have anything to do with winning over SU.. either their D shuts us down as it usually does in which case we dont score and our D caves, or it doesnt in which case their D has issues and we make a game of it. I dont see a shoot out where both offenses play well. I dont trust our offense yet against good D because history has shown we dont get more than low 20s to 30 against these better Ds. Thats the step our offense needs to take. If we score 30 against the LSU/Miami/Clem/FSU Ds we would have won 6+ games the last few years,.. Now if we score 40 and keep our QB on his feet and lose thats a great sign going forward.

I haven't seen Lawrence play but am intrigued to see a kid with such long hair starting at QB for a conservative program like Clemson.

Looking at a picture of him with his helmet off, it looks to me like he has dyed highlights in his hair. How did he not end up at Stanford or Cal?

A reasonable observer would probably think you are advocating our defensive players to go head-hunting with this comment.

I'd like to think that we are better than this as a fanbase.

He's an 18/19 year-old kid whose biggest transgression seems to be not playing for Syracuse. Think before you type.

I'm glad you are making a point of this because it appeared to me that it was intentional on their part. Like, if we knock Dungey out of the game, even with a dirty hit, they will fold up. I don't even think a flag was thrown on the play. Every time Dungey took those it's it was because the defensive players intentionally went high, to his neck and head. So what I'm really saying is that Syracuse hasn't forgotten about Clemson's intentional head hunting, at least I haven't and I don't think Dungey and the team has.

I think they cover.

Their D shuts our offense down and our D caves.

We're not winning this season on smoke and mirrors but we'll get their A effort.

Yeah I think by 12:45 Saturday we will be onto Pittsburgh and hopefully just handing the ball off and running the clock. I just don't see this going well

Clemson was a 17 Point home favorite in this game and needed NC State kicker to miss a 35 yard FG to win.
Plus Pitt was a 20.5 Point underdog the same year and did this.
Pittsburgh vs. Clemson - Game Summary - November 12, 2016 - ESPN

Clemson is a big time favorite but we can compete with them. I don’t expect the game to be over in the early second quarter.

Thats shaky potatoes talk. I feel our defense, tampa 2, is becoming an advantage to us. Other teams arent used to playing against ir. I think we keep it competitive because our lines are strong on both sides. Game is still won in the trenches.
