Kelly C Seubert players lounge

This was a gift of pure love. Kelly was one of the most special people I have ever known. When she passed away, I told Jim and Juli that I wanted to do something tangible in her memory. Jim immediately said our players lounge was seriously lacking when compared to lounges at the schools we compete against and recruit against. And he asked whether I would be willing to fund an upgrade/rennovaton of it. Since Kelly so loved the players ... and the players so loved Kelly ... this seemed very appropriate, and I immediately said yes.
A dedication was supposed to take place on the day before the Duke game (when I was going to be on campus), but understandably it got canceled after the horrible automobile accident earlier that week.

Thank you, for all that you've done, and continue to do, for SU.

Thank you, Joyce for your generosity and unmatched love of the program.

I love it. Love the graphics. Love the TVs. Love the captains sign...what player won’t walk in here and envision their name on that sign! And then the plaque for Kelly. I never met her, but now I feel like I know her.

Great space for the players to relax, hang out, gel as a team. Seems like a good spot to have meetings or watch tape as well. Huge props to cto. LGO!!!

Thanks Joyce. I’m glad they are updating the Melo Center. I thought the old lounge was unremarkable. I’m glad SU continues to update facilities and doesn’t stay complacent. I hope they do the same thing with the locker rooms in the Carrier Dome. They did a nice recent upgrade, but they still have to notch it up a lot to stay competitive.

I had interacted a few times with Kelly during my days - and every time i could have sworn i was talking to my own mother. Always wanted to help me and make my job easier. I’ll never forget hoping to get Coach to autograph a hat to be displayed at my grandfathers calling hours...

“Hey Kelly is coach busy? I was hoping to steal a second of his time”

“Sorry hun he’s busy all day, but what did you need?”

I told her the story

“Nonsense. He can spare 5 minutes”

You meet nice people every day. They don’t hold a candle to Kelly.
