Key games for bowl

We should be in good shape, actually, MTSU scares me more than pitt and NSCU. For real! They will be on fire and ready in the dome and our D will still be unproven.

It's not a gimme, but it's a game that we should win 95% of the time.[/QUOTE]

I'm doing my best to avoid saying any game is a sure win or a sure loss. With our D being historically bad and our O being historically good last year - I have no idea what to expect. Case in point: We beat VaTech who finished as the coastal champ and was what top 3-4 in the conference. We lost to Wake Forest and they were better, but still pretty mediocre/bad.

The Wake game was played in near hurricane weather. I don't know how good of a gauge that is to evaluate last year's offense.

A peer school to us? Come on.

They lost to Vandy, WKU, Marshall, UTSA, and Hawaii. And Mizzou was a disaster last season. They also graduated a ton of seniors.

Right on all counts. Which makes them similar to us last year. Both 4-8. No shame losing to a good Vandy team last year. I'm sure we would have as well. Vany beat Tenn., Ol' Miss, Georgia, among others.
Our wins came against a 1AA school, UCONN, BC, and VT. So we beat threee garbage programs and had 1 good win. Missou also beat 3 garbage programs, and had 1 good win against Vanderbilt. Very simillar to what we accomplished. Your response of "C'mon man" would indicate that my statement was outrageous.

This schedule is incredibly difficult, but if it has one saving grace it'd be that our opponents that we can compete with consistently are all (except for North Carolina State) at home. We also notice that every home game except for Clemson is against a team who we should have the talent to defeat on a given day/night. So that, as many others have pointed out, adds up to 7 games (CCSU, MTSU, CMU, @NC State, Pitt, WF, BC) that we should have a good shot of winning, with the other 5 (@ LSU, Clemson, @ Miami, @ FSU, @ Louisville) being utterly brutal. If we can somehow pluck one from those last 5 a bowl game is within reach, if not we really need to do VERY well in the 7 game group I outlined.

I think the poster was referring to Vandy and Mizzou as being peers to us and thus not to take MTSU lightly.

Regardless, Vandy beat them last season. If Vandy can beat them, than Cuse can beat them with several seniors graduating.
