Kick Returner?

Ridiculous idea, he'll be out of gas lining up at slot receiver the next play.

BTW, we were so close to having Hassan Hall at Cuse.
Yup. Excruciating

If Jordan’s my top guy in the backfield, I’m not letting him be a return man except for emergency/situational scenarios.
Punt returner yes...do kick returners get injuries at a high rate? I always thought it was the other players that usually get the injuries?

In my experience - more KR’s have been injured... but I’m not sure of the #’s in the aggregate.

We had RB’s deep on KR forever, but it was typically a backup. In 3 consecutive seasons we had a concussion, an ACL and a dislocated shoulder. And that’s just the returners.

In my opinion the juice isn’t worth the squeeze, but I’m probably jaded.

Worst injuries I’ve ever seen were on KR. Temporary paralysis, dislocated kneecap and nasty finger dislocations.

Totally agree. Also I think your observation is the reason many are looking at eliminating (or at least reducing) kickoff return volume, but nobody is looking at punt returns. It’s because the injury incident rate on KO is much higher.

Thinking about it, in the KO coverage scenario a team gets a running start and sprints, mostly unabated, 30-50 yards down field before contact (whether with the ball carrier or blocker)

In a punt coverage scenario, no member of the coverage team is allowed a free running release and is hit and blocked, all the way down the field. Also the distance is shorter, all of which leading to generally reduced intensity of collisions

My guess is Pena and Lutz on KR and Trill on punts with Nykiem, Nunn and Pena in the mix.

I agree that I’d love to see Jordan, but with him being the number 1 RB this year, I’d rather they go with someone else. On a related note, I wouldn’t worry about preserving redshirts this year. Anyone who can help the team win should be ready and available to take the field.
