Kudos to the fans

The real test is getting Rak enough minutes... I am not impressed with BMK's effort so far this year. I don't think Rak is that far away from him, IMHO. While this point certainly leaves plenty of room for debate, the fact I feel this way is kind of the red flag to me that we are in danger of experiencing a similar fate of our last team to be ranked #1, if Fab ends up hobbled this year.

Christmas does need minutes, but it's more because Fair is getting beaten like a red-headed stepchild on the defensive glass (and was wholly lost on the backdoor pass and alley-oop in the first half). Fair's a real nice player, but not a capable power forward for an elite team.

For now, I'm thrilled with tonight's impressive win and will leave it at that.

He actually played in about half the games, including a bunch in the Big East. He was our only backup center who played. Jeremy McNeil seldom got off the bench on that team, but Celuck did.

If, on 1 February 2000, you'd asked any Syracuse fan the question "What players on this roster will be major contributors to a national championship team?", the names "McNeil" and "Duany" would not have been among the first ten answers.

Dion is a terrific talent. Could you imagine Jeremy Mcneil with an above average offensive game...? We call that Tim Duncan.

Few things in life give me an adrenaline rush like hearing a LGO chant in an opposing arena.

Ain't that the truth. It's quite amazing, when you think about. Our fans have done this consistently, which is true testament to the loyalty we have for the team.

That 1999-2000 team is one I consider the deepest of recent times. Etan Thomas, Ryan Blackwell, Damone Brown, Preston Shumpert, Jason Hart, Allen Griffen, DeShaun Williams, Tony Bland, Kueth Duany and Billy Celuck.

This team is looking awfully deep - maybe deeper if Rakeem Christmas can begin to contribute some interior presence. I know he's not getting a lot of minutes, but he's not doing a lot when he's out there.

Only Shump and Meshaun really contributed that year off the bench. Kueth was a frosh, Celuck played very little, and Griff wasn't much of a factor behind the monster minutes that Hart was playing. They were deep in terms of what they individually would eventually become but the sum of the bench parts that year wasn't as strong as what we have behind the starters this year IMHO.

Well, Billy played more than Jeremy but he still only appeared in 14 games for a total of 88 minutes that season. Baye gives us more off the bench than Billy gave us that year.

Griffen, Duany, and celuck don't really count as depth this year... 2 out of 3 became good players - but not this year.

Duane only played in like 20 games total. Celuck played in way less

They did however have very balanced scoring. I think the 5 starters all avg'd 10-12 a game and the 2 bench players were at 7-8.
