He will always for me be the number one Quarterback for Syracuse University maybe with Donovan still residing somewhere down in the gray matter of my mind.

How he could come here after the Fran Brown visit, make up his mind that he was doing the right thing, arrive at a new program knowing what Fran had told him on their visit. Alone in his thoughts and wondering if what he had decided was true.

A new coach, new teammates, new everything. It’s what makes me like him as a man - taking on such a challenge. And, what he imagined, we now know, made his dreams and ours come true. Through it all he remained so calm, the leader standing behind the team instructing them what to do.

I wonder if members of this board feel the same way I do. I have felt so relaxed after watching the team win - THE GAME - so proud of Kyle and Fran and the team. It’s like the “you can do anything you put your mind to”, a saying that’s been around forever that I think always has been Fran’s mantra and now I believe Kyles and the programs.

I really feel that our football fortunes have taken off and that Fran is just getting started on his mission to revive SU Football into its former winning ways because of him and that he knows in his heart he can do it. Make SU a consistent winner. I sincerely feel that Fran is going to be here for some time after what he accomplished in his first year as a head coach and elite recruiter.

And Kyle is #1, the Quarterback who believes he can. I hope he gets drafted and does well in the NFL. No one deserves it more.

It would be fantastic if he got an extra year through appeal, but it would be a horrible business decision. He threw for more yards than anyone else this season and won a huge game on a day when the Buckeyes soiled the bed and demonstrated that Ryan Day unjustifiably made him out to be a scapegoat for his own failings. He should move up a bit in the draft and he should take advantage of all of he has accomplished this season.

As for his standing among QBs, McNabb was a lot of fun to watch and will always rank among my favorites to watch while he was here. This season was special though and not possible without Kyle, who delivered as a leader as much as he did on the field (as you well noted).

love Kyle but what Donnie Mac did in 1987 is hard to top. And if it wasnt for the ND bias he would have been our second Heisman winner.

I can’t imagine a QB other than McCord for this season. Calm and ready to lead (and succeed) in the midst of a complete program overhaul. Really the perfect person for this season, a good match between the person and the moment.

Dungy was a great fit in 2018. McNabb was perfect for the Wild 90s. Donnie was the person we needed in 1987. They’re all legendary QBs for this program & Kyle is right there with them now

I love Kyle, but to say that a one season guy is our # 1 when we have multi-season high caliber bodies of work from others is a stretch for me.

Personally, I would probably rank him #3 after both of our Donnies.

I do think it is fair to say that Kyle is the best pure passing QB that we have ever had, and that it isnt even close.

Yeah, that's where I'm at as well. Love Kyle but do have to respect the past and guys who laced them up for Cuse all 4 years.

Exactly this. McPherson should have won the Heisman. He got absolutely robbed and we had a team that went 11-0-1.

McNabb was 4x 1st Team all BE, 3x OPOY and Rookie of the year.

All due respect to Kyle, who has been amazing, one year with 9 wins does not make you #1.

I'm usually against calling the 1 year player a "Syracuse guy", but McCord will forever be a Syracuse guy...and yeah I don't think we've ever had a better Quarterback, McNabb is an all time great and nobody is above him here, but I've not seen a better pure quarterback up there...

McCord is easily the best quarterback to play here. Because he didn’t play for 4 years doesn’t make him any less of a player . He’s the best passer I have ever seen at the collegiate level. I can’t imagine him not have great success in the NFL.

‘87 was a better season, Graves went 20-4 in 91-92, McNabb multiple conference championships.

Great season, but I don’t know about #1

Totally agree.

While, to me, Kyle is the best pure passer we have ever had, Don McPherson is the best overall QB we have ever had.

Also for me, Don is my second favorite alltime SU player behind Ernie.

to me McNabb is the single greatest QB Syracuse University ever had. He gave us 4 superb years. Donnie Mac had the best singular season and McCord had the most gunslinger/modern qb season ever. Room at the inn for all of them if you ask me.

But my real #1 is Kevin Mason

Troy Nunes! (is still an absolute magician). Kidding, of course.

If the question is "who can throw the football the farthest?" that's your guy. I'm pretty sure he could chuck it something absurd like 80 yards.

It's crazy how much different our offense was back then. McCord attempted almost the same number of passes after four games this year than Kevin Mason did in the 1994 season.

"Easily"

McNabb QB'ed the team to a Fiesta Bowl and an Orange Bowl.
He then went to the NFL and went to a Super Bowl.

Come on, guy.

1. Patterson
2. Philcox
3. Scharr
4. Villari
5. McDonald

(Just kidding)
The three-headed monster of Todd Norley, Greg Christodulu and Mike Kmetz is up there among my favorites.
