Kyle McCord to NFL Draft

If Day doesn't get a win today as 7 point favorites they're gonna scapegoat him harder than they did McCord and throw him out of the state.

Not gonna lie I would have a really hard time being an OSU fan with how excessively cutthroat they are about *everything*

That Fran would do anything for his players, that they love playing for him, and that the community never compares Kyle to an (actually pretty decent) mid-size family sedan as some sort of insidious insult makes this all so much nicer to be a part of.

We're just the right amount of serious to win, and not at all so serious as to be toxic.

This is devito nfl salary. McCord can make more in college if he’s not a day 1 or 2 draft pick. I think that is the calculus. I’m not saying McCord is not better that Tommy but an extra year of college coin could pay more handsomely and then u get that rookie contract

Devito:

two-year deal worth $1.665 million. He earned a base salary of $750,000 last year, and he will earn $915,000 during the 2024 season.

Agree , look at PSU, the football factories lose touch with reality . I’m glad we’re where we’re at despite my complaining about attendance and what not .

They're 53-8 with Ryan Day as HC.
Outside of last year, they have been a top 5 program in the nation every year of Ryan Day. (Last year they were #10.)
During the Ryan Day years, 45 players have been picked in the NFL draft, including 12 1st rounders; I don't know how many others were undrafted free agents.

OSU fans are really annoying, just like fans of ND, Alabama, VT, etc, and I'm not excusing toxic fandom but this is an elite, high-powered program; it's the minor league for the NFL.
If the same circumstances were in Syracuse, fans would be exactly the same, Fran or no Fran.

Maybe, maybe not. I guess my point is if it got here the way it is there, I'm out. For me sports are fun. Success is fun. SU is fun. Toxicity is not fun.

Day hasn't won a B1G CG since 2020, has no titles, and hasn't beaten Michigan since 2019. He loses today it will be a lot of fun to watch what happens.

Please list the number of games he played each year.

It’s all so dumb and arbitrary. A guy could play in 16 games over 4 years and play 4 more years because he got hurt each of the first 4 years.

But if you appeared in 5 games only for a handful of snaps, didn’t get hurt, then it’s

I happen to think he will have a good career in the NFL. better than he is rated now.
I just don't know what is available next year. There might be a chance to really move
up and that would mean a lot more dough
Non Mobile QBs are not going to get many chances to start in the NFL for the foreseeable future.

If I'm Kyle I jump at the shot to be 4/5th guy taken this year.

But the other option isn't bad come back to Syracuse bank another couple mil and NIL and still go 4th/5th round most likely.

He's too good and too accurate to not make a roster and I'm not sure even 5 teams have better backups than him. Just is a bad time to be a pocket passer none of them are getting the keys to the franchise out of the draft anymore.

I/We know this but you'd be shocked how many of idiots think otherwise.

Speaking of which. Talk about a hot seat. If Day doesn't get a win today as 7 point favorites they're gonna scapegoat him harder than they did McCord and throw him out of the state.
I hope Ohio State loses. So much.

I hope Kyle comes back. So much.

There. I am now officially in the record for this most epic of threads.

So weird but so true. Don McPherson was 30+ years before his time, complete opposite of that era

This has been discussed before. “Non mobile QBs” are roughly half the league

If you can make NFL throws, you will find a home

The keys of franchises have been given to Bryce Young, Jordan Love, Tua, Goff, Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and more.

Goff was drafted a decade ago and the rest were drafted as dual threats. Your list proved my point.

Penix was the only pocket passer this year in the first round and he actually ran the fastest 40 time of all QBs.

Now are the Jags for example gonna pass on Kyle to replace Mac Jones and push Lawrence because he's not a runner in the middle rounds? No way.

I get that mobility matters, but I wouldn’t argue the league is going away from pocket passers. I think there’s an issue where it’s heavily relied on by colleges so you’re seeing fewer of them, but pocket passers will always have a home

Goff is a good comparison. So is a younger Kirk Cousins. Some of those other guys are mobile like Burrow.

Burrow and Lawrence aren't dual threats, nor is Tua

Why as much in the league? They have actual offensive lines that give pretty decent protection. Kyle has shown he has enough to make it in a league.
