Kyle McCord: Waived by Eagles

I have heard on some Birds podcasts that Kyle looks like an NFL QB.

The Eagles beat reporters have been impressed with his decision making and the speed with which he gets rid of the ball.
Apparently he was great during Mini-Camp and their OTAs.

I expect Kyle to get most of their pre-season snaps, make the Eagles’ 53 man roster, and suit up as the emergency 3rd QB on game days (which doesn’t count towards the 48 dress player cap).

Tanner McKee could also be a pretty good trade chip for the Eagles next off season going into his final contract year, clearing the way for Kyle to take the reigns as Hurts’ backup (which should mean lots of 4th quarter snaps/ real game experience).

I’m making a lot of assumptions here and the dominoes need to fall right, but I see a path to Kyle getting signed to be someone’s starter in four years.

Agree. Either Tanner McKee or Kyle will be a perfect trade chip.

The Birds, and Roseman, have a history of doing such a thing. Hey, they traded Foles, then got him back, won the Super Bowl, traded him again. Also, they got (I think) a third-rounder for Kevin Kolb.

And let us not forget Carson Wentz.

The QB Factory has pumped out some draft capital. Over the last 15 years, look who they traded and for what…
2010 McNabb to Washington for a 2nd & 4th.
2011 Kolb to Arizona for a 2nd & DRC.
2015 Foles & a 2nd to Rams for Bradford.
2015 Barkley to Arizona for a 7th.
2016 Sanchez to Denver for a 7th.
2016 Bradford to Minnesota for a 1st & a 4th.
2021 Wentz to Indy for a 1st & a 3rd.
2021 Flacco to Jets for a 6th.
2025 Pickett to Cleveland for a 5th & DTR.

One group of fans loved him and one gave him sooo much grief
I hope more unappreciated players at the entitlement schools can be convinced by our staff that if they transfer to Cuse they could have a similar outcome as Kyle Mac, not to mention a better place to showcase their skills for the next level.

What, no love for the AJ Feeley flip? :)

I believe we are trying to do the exact same thing with Cook right now. Not at QB but potentially just as important. Elite recruit that wasn’t doing so at his school so upon coming here can he live up to that potential? We shall see….

Yup. Cooks podcast interview gave some insight into his situation and how he felt other coaching staffs weren’t straight with him. He went from being the key guy with all the hype to his position coach leaving before he set foot on campus. he raved about how honest and straight forward Fran was by comparison.

Oh no, I remember it well. It was outside the timeline I mentioned. Back in 2004… got a second round pick for him that was later used for Reggie Brown.

I was perusing Eagle's training camp notes on Yahoo Sports and saw a note about Kyle at training camp. It reported that Kyle missed badly on a bullet pass to a wide open streaking receiver on Thursday (July 24th)

I hope he does better next Time. Go Kyle, and go Eagles
Update, the Eagles released their depth chart for Thursday's game and Kyle is 4th string. It appears that he and the 3rd guy will get most of the reps in the game. It will be his time to shine.

The third stringer, Dorian Thompson Green was drafted in 2023. Below are his stats. First line is from 2024 and bottom line is career stats. I have a feeling it will not take long for McCord to move up at least one spot.

I will be surprised if Kyle can't beat out DTR. Ex CLE Brown who came in after Deshaun Watson's injury. Played about 6 or 7 games and was a deer in headlight interception machine.

Anyone know what channel this game is on?
I haven’t found it here in Cuse. Think it might be local programming for the team’s markets only
