Lakers second unit lookin nice!

Wes's shot wasn't falling but he clearly looked like he belongs. Played a stretch 4, covered Blake Griffin. Hit a big three and was very instrumental along with a misfit cast of players nobody wanted who look to be pretty talented. Xavier Henry, Jordan Farmar, Wesley Johnson, Jordan Hill and Jodie Meeks completely owned the Clippers starting unit.

Wes looked pretty good out there.

Oof...Wes had a +/- of +15 but he was still only 1-of-11 from the field. That's...that's freaking awful. Wow. And no, I didn't watch any of the game. But that's still brutal.

I checked the box score at the half and he had 5 min and 0 for 4. Glad he looked good later.

Statistics don't always tell the whole story. As others have stated...who actually watched the game, he was a valuable asset out there and did some very good things, especially playing D on Blake Griffin and on the boards.
He seems to have grown as a player, IMO. In Minny he was pigeonholed as a shooter & nothing else. Tonite he was all over the place and played very well. Certainly passed the eye test even w/ the bad shooting night.

He didn't just stand in the corner the whole game like in that God-awful triangle offense Minnesota ran. He was active all over the place. His first touch on the wing, he made an aggressive move toward the basket. Nothing came of it, but it was refreshing to see him do something other than catch the ball in the corner, look around, and pass it back out to the wing.

This dude is a journo. He can't look at a game objectively, its all based on stats.

Funny, I saw Xavier Henry and Farmar making plays. I saw Wes standing behind the 3pt line and jacking threes. There was one time where a guy closed out so hard and almost went by him allowing him to have lots of room to dribble and drive, but, he shot it anyways. I did see a nice pass to Henry for a three and a few defensive boards. Griffin wasn't needed at that point as it was launching 3 time from Crawford and co. I hope he does better in LA but I'm not optimistic.

Wes did have a couple shots that went in and out.

That said, he won't be around very long.

He needs to attack the rim via cutting and slashing. That's going to be his game on the Lakers. 1-11 is not going to cut it, although it was nice to see his trey on ESPN highlights this morning.

No chance i was staying up for this game, so I just saw the box score this morning. All the other stuff is fine, but 1-11? the good sign for Wes is that he got the chance to put up 11 shots in 21 minutes means he's probably gonna continue to get opportunities.

Well he's on a one-year guaranteed contract at the veterans minimum, so he'll be around for at least that long.

That's what I meant re: the good sign. He was missing shots, but staying in the game because he was doing other things well including guarding Blake Griffin. If he can play the small PF semi-competently resulting in mismatches on the other side, MDA will continue to go with him. That lineup with Jordan Hill at C is basically his dream

Then you watched a different game than I did. Yes, he jacked up threes AND his shot was off. But give the kid a break- he seems far ahead of when he came into the league, especially on defense where he made a couple of nice plays on Griffin and Jordan. I was frustrated watching him miss some shots, but he certainly wasn't as hapless as some suggest. And I for one, AM optimistic. We shall see.

yeah, I watched the whole game and I think that, while he did a bit more than just jack threes, yours is is closer to the correct assessment - for this game (I don't share your lack of optimism). Nobody is a bigger Wes Johnson fan than I, and I have been following his time with the Lakers closely, but this was the least-impactful game he has had for them, by a pretty wide margin.

Obviously 1-11 doesn't cut it. But I don't think it's anything to be worried about. We know he can shoot fairly well.

He was on the court the entire 4th quarter which is when the Lakers made their run and scored 41 points. So that's obviously a positive. And that he shot 11 times in 21 minutes is a good thing. In Minnesota he rarely took a lot of shots.

Everyone seemed to have a green light for the Lakers. Everyone got minutes too...he played 11 guys a good amount of minutes each.

He's getting a crack, and he was on the floor when the game was won, so there are positives. Going forward...make some shots!

I'm not dogging the kid or bashing him. So much for being objective when it comes to crtiquing a former SU player. Good lord. I see what I see. I've wanted Wes to shine and contribute and you can't blame everything on MIN or PHX systems. To those who say he was instrumental in the 4th qtr LAL surge, well, that would be a fallacy. Henry and Farmar did all the work.

every Laker fan in town today is talking about Henry and Farmar . . . haven't heard a mention of Wes.

Farmar might end up being the key to their season, because Nash looks finished.

Agreed. Nash looked bad. The play where he misplayed the 3 on 1 fastbreak, and Young ended up with a tough shot underneath the basket. Nash just doesn't do stuff like that.

Or there was another play where there was a loose ball in the backcourt. Any other guard in the league would've had it and took it in for a layup. Nash looked like he was running in mud, trying to go get that ball and he didn't even end up getting it.
