Lax Pick em’: Week 8

If the only feed available to the officials is the "house feed" and not the broadcast feed as well, and if the house feed didn't show the important angle then that's some bad karma for PSU as it was their stadium. Also, I feel like this has happened to Jack Aimone before? not sure, but he can sling it

It's a good thing that Ohio State dominated the game in the 2nd half and it wasn't a 1 or 2 goal game. Of course, I can't guarantee that if the goal had been counted as it should, the momentum might have changed.

I'm glad these questions about house feed are being raised as we don't need this happening later this season in big games.

Was it just me or did PS look sloppy and a bit slow last night? Fracyon looked ok but not really sharp to me.

I have been in a replay room for NCAA ice hockey , I know that not all the feeds there are shown as like what we see on TV. it doesn't surprise me though that the feed on the iPad differs from a live tv feed. I guess they could have an iPad tuned to tv feed but that's not as useful in some cases to review easily.

It could be simply that the schools have different software set up. Lacrosse doesnt have the league review like some sports do

Only started watching the game after half time when score was 5-5. OSU certainly looked quicker to start the second half. Scored the first 3 goals, I think, by beating their man with PSU sliding late. Couldn't really fault Fracyon for those.

Fracyon had 7 saves in first half n believe zero in second half. While big tasty was making saves all day. Psu def had good looks but didn’t finish or tasty made the save. That was def big part of ohio st pulling it out. Also ohio st just torched the psu dmids n their were almost no slides to hell them. They would wing dodge dmids n get underneath n have clear shot to goal as slides didn’t come at all or were late. Psu got out hustled n made to many mistakes n struggled to win faceoffs.

For those interested, here's an Inside Lacrosse article about the video review.

"If video review is going to be used the host institution is responsible for it, and it has to be done at the table, not the coaches' bench areas," Tom Abbott, the NCAA national coordinator for men's lacrosse officiating, told IL on Monday. "So there's a separate monitor that goes to the table for the referees to use."

So while the Penn State coaching staff had the broadcast feed available to their iPads on the sideline, the officials were not able to view them, nor were they to go off the video board that showed the angle for the fans. Instead, the referees were given an iPad with more-limited looks without the broadcast feed available to them.

I bet there's gonna be some changes to the video review rules after this season.
