LAX TV/Streaming for Feb 16-22

UNC pulling away. UNC 14-8 with 9 1/2 to go in the 4th.

Wambach had a bad stretch mid 2nd to early 3rd but has really started to dominate, he's now 18 of 25. Hobot being out has doomed JHU, that and a lack of dodging.

Twas my fear coming into the season.

They were my dark horse coming in. Just to much talent if guys stay healthy which hasn't been the case the last few years. The one team they need to avoid in the tourney is Maryland. That disciplined play will be their kryptonite.

Well the overating is over. They’re legit. I fell for it.
call it cope, they might still be overrated, sure they played well but Hopkins had no FOGO and Lamitie looked like a freshman, and not a good one. My opinion on them is marginally better than before it, but I always had them as a F4 team to begin with, unless Breschi screwed them up, so that hasnt really changed.

Also Hopkins was probobly overrated Bobby Mo and Loyola are not good, and they beat Towson by 2, Towson lost to a team we beat by 18

I think Hop's ceiling is still better than what I thought coming into the season. How they react to this will be telling. The UVA game next weekend will be the true measuring stick for them.

Always had this game (and the Cuse game) penciled in as losses but we'll see for certain in two weeks.

Hobot's absence did not change the outcome but did affect the score line.

This I will agree with, Hopkins is better than I thought, but I also think too many people saw the 15 goal win over RoMO and thought they were filly back, when the reality is RoMo is bad.

Also the wonders of the sport operating on RPI is that the margin doesn't really matter come selection time. They should still definitely compete for a Tourney spot if they can rebound against UVA

I would add Lamitie having a rough game and Collison practically invisible. Collison gave up the ball when he got a shorty match up, he has to at least dodge and draw a slide.

One of Hop's main issues is that Collison isn't a great dodging threat and Chauvette isn't one at all. If you don't leave them open (easier said then done) they are likely to struggle to put up big #s. Iler is the real main dodging threat and to a lesser extent Ayers. You have to stick tight to Chauvette and Collison and be slow to slide on essentially everyone else. Iler will get a few in with his speed but Hop doesn't have the secondary dodgers to make you pay.

I thought hops D n the way they were sliding looked weird n way to far n left big gaps open on other side, where easily get skip pass thru. Just the way the D was sliding from seemed off and was causing offense for unc. Plus they forced way too many bad bad shots with low angles.

The problems with the defense didn't really surface until late in the game. By then, the possession disadvantage had caught up to them and the defense was just way too tired. I thought they played pretty well for the first 2.5 quarters, obviously gave up some goals but that's a very talented offense they were up against. I think UNC had just 10 goals with a minute left in the third and, as mentioned, almost all were unassisted. Pretty good team defense if you ask me. The freshman Sorenson on D got his welcome to the league moments just like Lamitie. Both will learn from it.

Collison had a rough night with shot selection - UNC did a great job disrupting him. When he finally got some clean looks late he was clearly out of sync and couldn't can them.

Chauvette is a good shooter from the wings - and has some sneaky legs on him, he's not as stationary as some might think - but he's not yet the threat from anywhere that Degnon was.

Shot selection and placement from the Jays was pretty rough all night. I never really felt like Marcus was having a great night in cage. But first game on grass + the disruptive D + limited touches on O were big factors.

They are still very much overrated. Play against a team with a FOGO and a goalie, and on the road, before saying they are not overrated.
