Class of 2024 LB Kris Jones (VA) Portal to BC

Boston College definitely has more open holes on their defense believe it or not. Hopefully if this is the Syracuse staff target they are able to get him.

Jones was a consensus four-star talent and a Top -150 player when he signed with Georgia in the 2024 recruiting class. He’s from Fairfax, Virginia, a Washington D.C. suburb.

Even though he has the recruiting pedigree and the physical traits, Jones does not have a lot of SEC experience. After redshirting during his true freshman campaign in 2024, he played sparingly in 2025. Jones appeared in 13 games, primarily as a special teams player, tallying seven tackles, including one against Kentucky and a season-high three against Mississippi State.

Jackson Meeks profile. Core Teams and positional depth guy at UGA, lifts the roster at SU.

True, however UGA recruits from the highest level and taking a risk on this player may be worth it.

I realize this guy could be quite good, but I thought we were set at LB, especially if we will play mostly 4-2-5. Don't we have other more pressing needs?

I think we could actually use at least 1-2 more LBers - we had 10 on scholarship last year, between the portal and graduation we’re losing 5 and have only added 2 from the portal & the freshman class.

And I think if we’re shifting back and forth from 4-2-5 to 3-3-5 depending on the matchups we’ll need the depth. I think Kehres likes to run both.

Yes he actually mixes up the defense depending on the match up, it in the end it's all about stopping the run and causing as mach chaos as possible
