As announced at Campus Conversations yesterday, a $1 million gift has established the Wright, III '85 and Cathy Lassiter Endowed Head Men's Basketball Coach. The gift is the first seven-figure athletic gift in College history and the first time a coaching position has been endowed. During the first four month of 2024, the College has received one eight-figure gift and four seven-figure gifts.

"We are profoundly grateful to Wright and Cathy for this milestone gift," said Jim Joseph '83 Ed.D. '23, vice president for advancement and innovation and dean of the Madden College of Business and Economics. "They have been long-time supporters of the College and this endowed fund will allow Le Moyne to attract and retain top coaching talent long into the future."

Wright Lassiter was a member of the men's basketball team while he attended Le Moyne, and was inducted into the Gold Wave Hall of Fame in 2014. A member of the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2021, Wright currently serves as chief executive officer of Common Spirit Health in Chicago, Ill., the largest Catholic hospital system and the second largest non-profit health system in the U.S. Before that, he served as president and CEO of the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Mich. Cathy, a psychologist, spent most of her career as a licensed specialist in school psychology with the Dallas Independent School District. She has also worked to advance the mission of several non-profit organizations, including Women of Tomorrow and the Charles Wright African American Museum, both located in Detroit.

Remember, they have three more seasons of not having a postseason while they "adjust" to D1. Which of course is ludicrous.
I did forget, and yes it is. I would understand if a team was dropping a level but this? Come on...

The second after I wrote my post my first thought was, if they got that money out the gate, I don't think NIL will be a problem for them, especially in that league.

SBU base is incredibly excited about this. The last guy (Manhertz and a former SU employee) just was never a good fit there.

Believe we offered this kid out of HS. His career has not gone as he envisioned it.
Lots of injuries over his career,- shoulder surgery, concussion, ACL, broken knee cap etc totally derailing his college career. Hope he stays injury free and has a good productive season for Lemoyne. He’s 25 years old.

I have heard from a coach it will end up being just 2 seasons. At least that was what he was telling recruits.
