let me ask you: is the WatchESPN app > ESPN3?

Yes. I just got a Roku and the quality has been tremendous. Watched the bowl game replay the other day and some live games, both were great.
Agree with this. The quality of the ESPN3 on my Roku 3 is vastly superior to the stream quality on my laptop. It's HD, and it obviously helps that I can watch on a 50 inch screen rather than being hunched over a 17 inch laptop. But the speed is much better, and my Roku is WiFi, and not actually wired.

Llandz, if you do go to the bar to watch the game... remember, watch out for "Little Old Ladies" while in Pasadena. ;)
I'm thinking I'm not far from a little old lady, and I'm in Pasadena!! Maybe they better watch out for me!!!

It's usually a little more reliable connection, but it's also smaller, has no ability to show multiple games at once (to my knowledge), and I've found it's usually delayed by 20-30 seconds. I'd also try running a speedtest (e.g. speedtest.net) on both your tablet and your PC to see if there are any noticeable differences in the connection. A computer that is bogged down with spyware or the like could cause the internet connection to lag.

When I lived in Cincinnati I was running the app while at the UC vs. SFU football game. The delay was 11 seconds behind real time.

That's exactly what I've been saying in all of these threads during the last few years. ESPN3 access is tied to your Internet Service Provider. He other channels are tied to your Video Service Provider.

In this case he was asking about ESPN3 access. If his Internet Service Provider gets him access to ESPN3 then the WatchESPN app will also provide him access to ESPN3.

Nice to know that you steal services from ESPN.

This is not true. I can use espn3 on laptop but cannot use watchespn on my phone anymore.

So it depends on the ISP. I have no option but AT&T U-Verse, which is absolutely friggin horrible.

I use the WatchESPN app on my HTC One phone and it streams great but it's small ofcourse, I honestly prefer to watch just SportsCenter like that, but games I'd rather use my new Acer Chromebook with ESPN3 with the HDMI hooked up to my TV, it is literally same quality picture as my Verizon Fios HD channels. Compared ESPNU side by side with it and there's no difference.

Jeke, I've been hesitant to admit this to you knowing you're love for it. But, until I got the Roku, and subsequently HBO GO, I had never seen one episode of The Wire.

I'm almost through Season One.

About time. I hope you're enjoying it so far. For the record, since no one asked, here's how I rank the seasons, in order:

4
1
3
2
5

It's good so far, tried to get my wife to watch it, but the episode she watched was the fourth one I think: scene where McNulty and Bunk go re-investigate a shooting and say nothing but the word throughout the whole thing for five minutes. She wasn't a fan.

See, that's maybe the most famous scene of the series. They did it entirely to prove a point, too (the writers, I mean). Criticism for them and other HBO shows for the vulgarity, so they decided to write a compelling scene that was nothing BUT vulgarity, if I remember correctly.

I figured and tried to explain it was for a point but she wasn't understanding.

Trying to get people out of the house so I can watch another episode before the game.
