Let them score?

I believe it was after the BC game in 2013 when be was asked if he thought of letting BC score and he said hell no you don't let people score
yep he said he wouldn't do that

Shafer is confused as to what constitutes quitting.

Again, spouting an empty cliche about quitting and life lessons is not a real answer to the football question that was posed to him.

Interesting spin, though.
would intentional safeties teach a bad lesson? you give the other team points if you think it gives you the best chance to win. are john harbaugh, pete carroll, and belichick setting the youth of america astray with their example?

You named three pro coaches. Shafer said he's trying to shape young men as well as win football games. Pro players are men and if they need to be taught not to quit then they shouldn't be making a career in the nfl. The article also said that comparing win percentage it's lower if he let them score so by the numbers shafer made the right call.

How about taking a knee before the end of a half? Appalling example of quitting.

If true, that's a perfectly reasonable rationale for not letting the other team score.

Talk about quitting isn't germane to this topic, unfortunately.

Actually a knee is a sign of respect. Don't you think you're taking this a little far. Coaches play the odds in this case the odds show shafer made the right move. This isn't the nfl where kickers don't miss chip shots or players don't fumble snaps. Look at the Michigan Michigan state game. How many college games end like that. Lots.
