it comes down to talent, and we don't have it yet. The WR's are pathetic and can not get separation. Van Chew, where are you? It's Lemon and no one else. Bailey is average at best. I am not trying to bash our players, they give what they got, but it's not enough. Hate to say it, but with all the players returning, I am already looking forward to next season. Welcome TE Ron Tompson! We need a few more recuits like you!

I know we are all frustrated, we see the talent that the basketball team can recruit and we kinda expect to see something to happen in football. I would love to see it, but in basketball how many teams can play in front of 30,000 fans in the NCAA? Syracuse! Thats why we get talent. In football, how many teams can play in front of empty seats? Yeah... thats why we are not getting recruits 4 and 5 star.

Couch, I am all for you and the team! Lets hope you can pull in a Donovan McNabb, Marvin Graves Don McPherson, Marvin Harrison, oh heck why not drean, Jim Brown type players! We need just a few to electrify the dome and turn this program around.

My rant after a defeat....go Cuse!

Truer words have not been uttered...

I long for the days of Graves & Harrison, McNabb & Freeney, Jim Brown & Ernie Davis...

I believe it is coming, & with Penn State about to take a long nap, this can only help hasten the rise of SYRACUSE once again...

I am so sick of this friggin excuse. So now its the fans fault for us not winning and getting recruits? Give me a friggin break!

You do realize a school like USF didn't even have football some 10 or 12 years ago. So somehow they built something from nothing with NO FANS...yet its the fault of the Syracuse fans that we don't get 4 and 5 star recruits? That's the stupidest thing I have heard. You have a school like UCONN that has been Div IA for a minute yet they don't blame their fanbase for their failures. And you aren't the only one who speaks this idiot verbiage. Anyone who blames the fans is clueless.

ITS NOT THE FANS FAULT! Put the blame where it belongs.

If we finish the season with 5 straight losses I hope Marrone & Co. are able to hold onto recruits like Thompson.

I did not once say its the fans fault. The point I was trying to make is that in baskestball we have a very unique recruiting edge in the fact that when a top recruit comes for a visit or can see on TV 30,000 fans cheering, its a HUGE advantage. In football when a recruit comes for a visit or sees on TV empty seats, its a lot harder to convince that top recruit to come here rather than a school that has 60k - 100k fans in the seats. The excitement level alone creates a wow atmosphere for the recruit. We dont have that.

If your a 4 or 5 star recruit and you have the choice of playing in front of 35k fans at Syracuse or 60k plus fans elsewhere, where would you go?

Just trying to state the fact that we dont have a recruiting edge at all in football like we do in basketball, NOT BLAMING THE FANS AT ALL! Is it possible to get 4 and 5 star recruits to turn this program around? YES! its just a whole lot harder.

We got beat by teams with lesser or equal talent. Not really an excuse in this conference

That's even dumber. Seriously. How did Syracuse ever win then? The Dome was the same size in the late 80's and all of the 90's as it is now. It hasn't been expanded. How did we recruit then?

The endless excuses are just laughable at this point. Put the blame where it belongs. On the current coaches doing a lackluster job. They have been bad.

I hate to say it, but we have pretty weak fan support in CNY.

Even when we play well, fans leave - against WVU with 11 minutes to play, fans were leaving!

The fact is that crowd does make a difference - it certainly does for SU BB. If you don't think kids want to play at SU because they will have the chance to play before 34, 000 people, you're not being realistic.

And you can't compare UConn or So. Florida to Syracuse. UConn is still a new program that draws very good crowds to the Rent. And SF is surrounded by the best HS football talent in the USA.

Aside from the unique experience for hoops vs football recruits stadiumwise, you also have the Melo Center vs refurbed Manley working for and against us in each sport. Facilities wouldn't fix everything, but certainly wouldn't hurt anything either.

We need WVU game type atmosphere more regularly... and the coaches need to produce a team to attract and maintain it.

All you do is make excuses as to why nothing is marrone's fault. you are like a drug addict making excuses for their addiction.

Lets go find a coach who doeant need you to make all of these excuses for them...

Because the game was over that's why people left. Who cares if people leave early? I'm serious, I have never gotten upset in my life if SOMEONE ELSE leaves the game early. My god almighty it has no impact on anything let alone my enjoyment at the game. Anyone who thinks it has any meaningful impact on the teams performance on the field or recruiting is insane and is putting the blame in the wrong place.

I would rather have people show up and leave a little early than not show up at all. Jesus Christ its unreal some of the spin I read on this board sometimes!

Stop with the 5 star recruits. We aren't going to be getting them. If we do, it will continue to be a very rare thing. Look at recruiting around the Big East. Pitt has one 5 star, a local kid named Rushel Shell. No other BE team has landed a 5 star recruit. ZERO. NADA. Going to the ACC isn't going to change things. Bemoan our lack of success landing overwhelming numbers of 3 and 4 star recruits and I'll understand. But 5 stars?? You have set yourself up for a lifetime of disappointment.

Agree. Not to mention any kid who is "considering" Syracuse I am pretty sure knows we have a 49,000 seat stadium and will NEVER play in front of 60,000-100,000 at home games. That won't be a shock to him

I just feel like the talent isn't being used in the right way.
