In revenge for ray rice, etc. I like this class and understand them hiring from within saved them a little, but with all the dirty tactics shady used against us, it's a little frustrating to walk away empty handed...

yup

would have been nice to steal a recruit or 2 as payback

please... get over it, they have put a real good class together and have done a great job the last week, still some closing to be done. I have been more than critical of Marrone and who wouldn't be watching the last 5 games of the season and his offense for the past 3 years but he and his staff have done great job the past month considering the facilities they have to work with. Yet people will bitch because he hasn't announced his new assistants yet. BFD.

Last time I checked, Flood was working hard to keep his class together as well, do people not work in competitive environments? you do not win all the time

You mean us going to the ACC while they are stuck in the Big-Sun-East-West-USA Conference wasn't enough?

Yep and they are in the rear view mirror and getting smaller as far as I'm concerned. Time to root for our recruits and worry about what the ACC teams are doing.

Bingo. They weren't going to take a hit this year with their whole staff remaining there after hiring their OL coach. The hits will come in the next couple of years when their recruits see they are playing SMU and Houston and we are in the ACC. Not to mention the fact they are undoubtedly selling recruits on going to the B1G or Big12 or ACC. Once again, Rutgers are champions of February and yet still have nothing to show for it.

don't care - the only one I really wanted SU to get was Carroo - and he obviously wasn't interested

this staff clearly has no problems with recruiting DEs, so while JPO will be a good player no doubt - he has already been replaced with equally talented recruits

The staff worked their collectives asses off the past month holding this class together and adding to it...

Love the last three additions (Hilliard, Pierce-Brewster, Morgan).

With Shady gone, RU's days are numbered...

I don't believe it has to be an either or. I realize their future is bleak in terms of conference alignment. I also realize that they have a hard working staff that put together their class, like dm did for us. I think this class is real strong, but the competitor in me wanted to stick it to them once more. Hopefully, we will beat them on the field next year and leave 3-1 in DMs tenure! I'm not try to belittle our class by saying I wish we stole one from them. They did become a big recruiting rival to us and despite the ACC move have proven to still be a viable contender for talent.

This just shows how weak our program has become when we're trying to take 'revenge' on rutgers of all schools.

If you think about it, the AD sold their soul for this recruiting class. Flood is nowhere near ready to be a head coach (demoted OC, mediocre OL coach), but naming him HC was the only way they kept this class together. Unreal and somewhat funny.

That won't be the case when WVU, Pitt, and SU are actually gone. There will be a lag but it will happen. I had no expectation that any of their class would leave this year with the hiring of Flood. With Cristobal, we would have snagged JPO. But Rutgers took the easy (and cheap) way out instead of getting a potentially great young coach.

Seriously????? Yet another thread on the girls???? Personally, I couldn't care less about "revenge", especilly on LOI day. I'd rather focus on all the positives.....not sure when SU will get around to informing us who has signed, but positive nonetheless.

Best way to stick it to Rutgers is to beat them on the field

And they will not retain all assistants - despite what is said by them ...

This was my point. I see it the exact same way. Let the Rutgers fans celebrate in February (as usual) because they have had a really rough week otherwise. Long term, they took a major hit this week.

There is truth in that statement. Over the past ten years the conference set up this way. It's a sad state of affairs on our end, but hopefully coming to a close as we enter the ACC.

I agree, once the names are officially off the schedule the reality sinks in a little more.

where would we have put these kids anyway ? its a pretty full class already.. and the new additions were in the works before the rutgers issues.

LET IT GO - we wont even be talking Rutgers in 2 years (unless of course they are invited to join the ACC).

Or if they aren't, then as a 1-AA opponent to help fill out a schedule.

The Big East nonsense you read on this board is pretty much that.

With changes in the BCS, conference alignment will probably mean less than it does right now.

So, it's not surprising that the BE stuff has apparently not hurt Rutgers.

Marrone couldn't take advantage because he is not a good recruiter. Going forward SU will have just as hard of a time recruiting against Flood as they did with Schiano. Your on the field production is the most important thing for you right now. Obviously the ACC thing didn't help much in selling recruits for you. If you finish at the bottom again this year recruits won't care that you will be switching conferences down the road and your fans will be calling for Marrones head...

Thanks for your input...now and crawl back in your hole.
