Little perturbed we didn't stick it to Rutgers...

Marrone couldn't take advantage because he is not a good recruiter. Going forward SU will have just as hard of a time recruiting against Flood as they did with Schiano. Your on the field production is the most important thing for you right now. Obviously the ACC thing didn't help much in selling recruits for you. If you finish at the bottom again this year recruits won't care that you will be switching conferences down the road and your fans will be calling for Marrones head...

This is hilarious. You have psyched yourself up for the BMWFE conference and the Kyle Flood era.

Let me repeat that, the Kyle ing Flood era. A demoted coordinator and mediocre OL coach at best. And you're excited for it - I mean, good lord man.

I know a lot of schools that had Kyle at the top of the list should Cristobal had taken the job - unfortunately for you they're all NESCAC schools.

We should fire him now! If he can't recruit, who needs him! :)

Once the flagships are actually gone (see: Pitt, WVU, and Syracuse) and your recruiting staff can no longer "sell" to your recruits that you will eventually end up in a big boy conferece, recruiting will decline. You can crow now but lets talk in 2 years when we are playing in the Big Leagues and you are bringing SMU to Piscataway.

The BE has no name brand schools left. This year, recruiting wise, the baby was already put to bed. Its not a major coup that Flood kept the class considering that there have been no other coaching departures and your admins decided they needed to go on the cheap (because of your attendance issues and failed stadium upgrade).

The worst case scenario has played out for Rutgers the last 4 months. Left out of the conference re-shuffling. Had a chance to get rid of a mediocre staff (besides recruiting) once Schiano left. To me, this was a blessing in disguise for Rutgers fans. Nobody underachieved more with good recruiting classes than Shady did. Your school could have made legitimate waves with a young stud coach (Cristobal) and your AD completely swung and missed.

Instead, your school decided to hire a demoted OC in order to hold together a good recruiting class. Such a Rutgers move.

You idiots just hired your Greg Robinson in order to save one recruiting class. The best part is when he goes down in flames in three years, you'll be trying to hire someone who is willing to coach in the SunBeast for 700k a year. Good luck with that.

Promising future for the Rut.

See...this is why Rutgers should not be mentioned on this site. Please...please...PLEASE...stop giving this jerkweed a reason to come over here!

Based on precisely what makes you say he's not a good recruiter?

Obviously the ACC thing didn't help much in selling recruits for you. If you finish at the bottom again this year recruits won't care that you will be switching conferences down the road and your fans will be calling for Marrones head...

We're not in the ACC yet, and weren't even announced to move when this recruiting cycle started. Should be more of a factor down the road regardless who's coaching.

You're correct though, SU fans are not signing up for long term mediocrity. The flip side of that is if SU finishes towards the top next year and the wheels fall off at RU. How long of a leash would you give HC Flood peeling off .500 seasons? He's not exactly walking into a rebuilding project.

this is shady's class not floods-

marrone may not have been choice #1-but he still was a up and comer in the NFL-not a life long college assistant that was removed from his oc job-

joisey state has less money than su to spend on football now-

even if marrone fails the perception of su has changed for the better-

next year we can sell kids on the acc and with any luck start the new practice facility as soon as the acc money arrives

rutgirls had a chance to make a statement by getting a known name to replace shady-the let money talk the loudest and it will come back to bite them in the azz

We made a nice run at JPO and perhaps a couple of others, but we really hadn't been actively recruiting any of their other targets, so it's difficult to jump in so late in the game. I think our motivation for bringing in a player needs to run a little deeper than just exacting revenge for some decommit 7 years ago. As Confuscious said: “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Of course.

But gee, Rutgers is having its best recruiting year ever and other BE schools are also doing well today.

And, on College Sports Radio this morning Mark Packer applauded the BE on its national expansion.

I guesss all of us - except you - "couldn't be more wrong."

I think you undersestimate what has been built at Rutgers and why kids choose that school.

I don't think this post is a realistic assessment - it's more wishful thinking.

Little perturbed we didn't drop them by 30 in the Dome this year. Catch the ball PThomas.

This year, SU and RU went after two different sets of players and we both got who we were after.

Happy with our trajectory. War's over. Wormer dropped the big one.

Do you honestly believe that being left behind in the Big East doesn't or won't have an negative impact on Rutgers' football program?

How do you know their class wouldn't have been even better had they been invited to the ACC?

I think it's pretty safe to say that their current recruiting "success" has been in spite of conference affiliation, not because of it.

OrangePA is consistent...he's a BIG fan of the Big East and Rutgers. Once we're in the ACC he can happily become KnightPA and make a whole bunch of new friends. I suggest he go ahead and get a jump on that.

I think many on this board went way "overboard" on the supposed demise of the BE.

That seems to be the way here.

Posters get too excited and too down about most developments.

I did not suggest that the BE affiliation is responsible for Rutgers' success on the recruiting trail. Rather, I suggested that the BE affiliation has apparently not hurt the school and I suspect that kids have no problem playing teams like Boise State, University of Houston, SMU etc.

Indeed, I find it hard to believe that Rutgers' class could get much better. It's a darn good class.

I love how whenever a person makes a comment that doesn't stink of Orange-bias they are no longer considered Cuse fans.

Kind of like when anyone says a negative thing about Marrone, certain posters flip the out.

Unbelievable! You got me! Wow!

Yes, it's true - I'm a big, big, Rutgers fan.

It's amazing how you guys have ferretted out my true emotions.

I cannot believe that my 44 years of attending SU Football games, my graduation from Syracuse University 30 years ago, and my involvement in the Orange Pack, Ernie Davis Club and Orange Club didn't throw you off!!!

All that effort failed me.

Well done, sir. Well done.

Why does it bother you that there are a few SU football fans who are trying to find a positive (in this case, leaving the Big East for the ACC) in order to get them excited for cheering for SU? It's not easy being a Syracuse football fan.

I don't think it's far-fetched to think that the Big East expansion to the west coast will have an adverse effect on the east-coast leftovers like Rutgers and UConn, at least eventually. If there are a few fans who want to use that as a way to get excited for the future of SU football, then more power to them.

You seem to take any sort of Big East bashing very personally. It's kind of strange.

In revenge for ray rice, etc. I like this class and understand them hiring from within saved them a little, but with all the dirty tactics shady used against us, it's a little frustrating to walk away empty handed...
facilities, facilities, facilities---we have to have something to sell!!they built them we did not

We shouldn't be waiting on ACC money to begin construction of new facilities. The Good Doctor needs to get that ball rolling now. Capital construction projects don't happen overnight in any case; by the time a new practice facility is up and running we'll be in the ACC anyway.

Mark Packer? Never heard of him. I could spend all day listing national pundits who are on my side of the fence but I won't bore everyone. Your stance that the new moron is viable conference is a bit outside the norm (you are literally the only person I know who hasn't laughed at it). But hey, atleast your new crusade to save the Big East and throw bouquets at a school like Rutgers (which if you haven't noticed, has never won a thing) has got you off of the Coach P stuff. Bright side to everything I guess.

i agree with orangepa---rutgers has done what we have not been able to do but be arrogant----they spent we criticized---mad fun etc---guess what, denial has been a dangerous and costly thing. keep saying acc--that has not and will not change anything until we catch up. but be sure to beat the same drum its working all so well for us---by the way i ahve been saying this for the past 10 yrs none listened then either.
