oops. sorry thought i was in the yankee thread. wondered where that post went. deleted. thanks. long as i'm here i see a skaneatles REC above. gotta say when i was working there 5 years ago i often stayed in auburn instead . it's like 20 minutes ? nothing against skaneattles but downtown auburn had a great vibe . brick pedestrian only streets and several walkable bar/bistros/brewpubs near the hilton garden. two sit down candle type places i do remember frequenting were Balloons and Moros. Ballons was located literally just outside the prison walls. great steaks or italian. and Moros was a smallish place with a great wine and appetizer menu.( oysters and sancerre or snails and pernod. mon dieu ) i believe they may have tried a satellite place in skaneattles. i never got there. but i do hope both places are still open cuz they were outstanding meals . and a bit less pricey than skaneatles. and i do still believe with the above post where as if you win 2 challenges on bad calls you should be awarded an extra challenge.

Don't know how often it has been mentioned (it can't be often enough), but XO Taco on Fayette St. is almost unbelievable. Good margaritas, too.

The Moro restaurant in Skaneateles is phenomenal. Always meant to get to the original in Auburn (which is a somewhat different concept and equally good, as I understand it). Agreed - nice underrated food town.

Wow. I hope that was just a bad day. I was looking forward to going there again.

That place use to be Sweet Basil along time ago when I lived down off near Bear about a mile from Buckley road 20+ years ago. Never really a good spot for food even that that I recall, but I can't speak for Grotto. On a side note. I miss Sweatheart donuts every morning and Hinderwadels.
