Local kid making major league debut today with Diamondbacks

My son used to pitch, until he tore ligaments in his arm. (Started his swimming career ) Tim Lane's dad is friends with Tony Gwynn, from college. When he saw Tony he told him he had a tall lefty that wanted to come play for him. Tony asked where he lived. When he was told Syracuse, Tony said the first thing he needs to do is move.
That is why it is amazing when kids from here make the big leagues.

Always nice to see upstate kids doing well in the big leagues. Some good representation with him and Andy Parrino from Le Moyne by way of the Rochester area. Hope they can both stick around for a while.

During Saturday's telecast they mentioned that Pat didn't start playing baseball until his junior year in high school.Corbine did so at the urging of his friends. He was the quarterback on his football team and he played basketball. Now at the age of 22 he's a starting pitcher in the major leagues who won his first start and got a basehit in his first at bat in his second game. Kirk Gibson, his manager, loves him, now it doesn't get much better than that if you're in the Corbin family.
