Long. More accurate. By a mile.
Eventually maybe but right now, I would want a healthy Hunt. AJ is physically not ready to play at this level.I would take Long over Hunt.
hoopsupstate said:AJ is just way too small. He can't see over the middle and he really isn't that fast. He hasn't really shown much with his running. He isn't going to run away from anyone. Great kid and I think a pretty good leader, but he isn't an ACC quarterback.
Is he? Maybe in the 40 or 60m, but what's his longest run? Can he consistently get over 5 ypc? That'd be less than TH averaged this season. Not sold yet? AJ Long is averaging negative yards per carry, while Hunt would still be a better rusher by over 6 ypc.AJ is the fastest QB on the roster.

Small rant, but this fanbase didn't know what it had with Hunt until they shunned him and got AJ Long and lauded him when he threw 2 TDs vs. FSU. He's a good player with a good work ethic, but comparing him to Hunt is like comparing Frosh MCW to Senior Scoop.
To be fair, AJ looks to make the play longer with his arm - while Hunt takes off at the first hint of trouble. Both have yielded some mixed results. If you take out sacks from the running numbers, AJ's avg would climb. I'd bet his long is 9-12 yds.
Give me a break.
Stop making excuses. He hasn't been good. And guess what, sacks are part of the equation. Sorry - football doesn't work that way. Leaving class out of the equation, you're honestly telling me you would rather have AJ Long run your offense than Terrel Hunt if each were healthy and had the same weapons at their disposal?
Because if you say that, you're a fool. The only reason to play Long is because he has the possibility to develop into something better over the next three years. Which by that point, we'll probably have a different coach and a different AD. And our football program will be without a bowl for 2-3 straight years. Great. Grand. Play for the future.
A great reader of the defense? What tells you that? His 55% completion percentage? Lower than this season and last season of Hunt. His negative yardage running the ball this year? His 800 yards passing? Still fewer than Hunt, who's played in 4 total games. Hunt has been able to make plays out of nothing. He ran for almost 600 yards last year. That's an ability to read the D and make a play. He can do that, pick up a first down when there's nothing there, and adds an important part of an extra threat in a defensive gameplan. Can't say that about Long.If you honestly think Hunt would have produced with the line he would have had to work with, you are mistaken. He is not quick and would not have had a chance to get moving. His arm is not accurate. It would have been a nightmare season for him, as well. Long is a much better passer and reader of the defense (IMO) now and will be the far superior QB down the road. He did well considering he wasn't supposed to play this year. There is no doubt in my mind that Hunt's numbers would have taken a huge hit this season. The QB is only a part of the problem. I'm one of those guys that believes that football is won on the lines. Ours were not good, especially on offense. No holes and no protection.
