they both stink (long stinks less imo), lets recruit as many qbs as we can and hopefully one has what it takes
There's a defensive end at NC State who would laugh at that remark. That's why we lost that game!...Long is a much better passer and reader of the defense (IMO) now and will be the far superior QB down the road...
I'm a fool then. I'll own it. Long's a better quarterback.Give me a break.
Stop making excuses. He hasn't been good. And guess what, sacks are part of the equation. Sorry - football doesn't work that way. Leaving class out of the equation, you're honestly telling me you would rather have AJ Long run your offense than Terrel Hunt if each were healthy and had the same weapons at their disposal?
Because if you say that, you're a fool. The only reason to play Long is because he has the possibility to develop into something better over the next three years. Which by that point, we'll probably have a different coach and a different AD. And our football program will be without a bowl for 2-3 straight years. Great. Grand. Play for the future.
hes best of the freshman but that's itI don't know what people are seeing in AJ. He hasn't been very accurate (55.8%) has a 4-7 TD:Int ratio, 14 total yards rushing. He is small has only average speed and arm strength. What is the big deal? I guess we are just desperate.

Better than who or what?Long is better true freshman QB and Hunt is a better QB right now. End of discussion.
AJ is better than Hunt was when he was a freshman. That's the only thing we can say. Hunt is a better QB now and gives us the best chance to win. Our run game was consistent when he was in the game. His power run ability kept teams honest with our run game. I dont know why people jumped on the AJ Long bandwagon. He didnt show me enough to say he was alot more accurate than Hunt. FSU didnt have any film on him. Wake game he was solid but he benefited from our defensive TD's. It got harder once teams scouted him. I did see some good things for a true freshman and I like AJ's potential but I didn't see anything that tells me he's gonna be a consistent 250 yard passer.Better than who or what?

AJ is a better passer of accurate catchable balls than Hunt. That's all I've been trying to say.
Hunt delivers far more with his feet. Which is a good thing.
Hunt's completion rate is higher than AJ's so I can't agree that he is a better passer. I wish I could but the facts don't bear it out. In time maybe, but not as of the moment.AJ is a better passer of accurate catchable balls than Hunt. That's all I've been trying to say.

Well... it isn't like Hunt completes many more passes.Hunt's completion rate is higher than AJ's so I can't agree that he is a better passer. I wish I could but the facts don't bear it out. In time maybe, but not as of the moment.
We are no longer guessing - we have seen what the others can do. Hunt is our best chance to win. After next year, let the competition begin.Hunt is the better player there is no question. We all fell in love with AJ the first game but if you step back and look at the physical capabilities of the two there is little doubt that Hunt provides us with the best chance to win. AJ throws a better ball but not by much. Hunt could eat AJ for breakfast and still be hungry as AJ looks like a poster boy for the cub scouts. Hunt is a man vs AJ. I hope Hunt starts next year and that AJ gets some run and time to learn and get stronger. Year after next AJ is the man Next year the current man starts

I understand what you are saying, but an incomplete pass is an incomplete pass. And yes, AJ is better at screens and slants, but that is about it. Hunt's arm is stronger than AJ's.Well... it isn't like Hunt completes many more passes.
I see it like this - when Hunt misses, he misses by a lot. When Long misses, it isn't quite as far off. Plus, a lot of the balls Hunt completes are bad balls. Every slant he hits is a wobbler. Long seems to have a bit better touch throwing to where guys are. Hunt's just not good throwing unless the target is stationary. I think with Long the receivers are able to run an actual route instead of breaking everything off and sitting down. Even on the short stuff to the outside Long's catching them in motion. Long has thrown more interceptions, but it's not like Hunt's a low turnover player either.
So, whither Long goeth, so goeth Ottoingrotto. I know we sacrifice some running ability. I honestly don't care though. I'd rather have a QB that can take advantage when a running lane is there, than a QB that the defense stacks the box against that can't take advantage of what that means on the outside and down field.

In the final analysis there is not much difference in their passing and there is no question Hunt is a far superior runner especially in the red zone. Hunt scored 7 rushing TDs last year.
AJ is simply not ready to play at this level - at least not yet. Next year is a new year. Maybe they will both get better.
