Long's Dimensions

Maybe he compares in size to Pat White? Or going back further, Major Harris? Pretty sure neither or them were over 6' or 200 lbs.

Imagine the freakish cross between Justin "The Salamander" Pugh and the wee AJ Long.

Johnny Manziel was 5' 11" (some claim 5' 11.5") and approx. 180 lbs as a true frosh at T A&M. When he entered the NFL Combine he was 5' 11.75" and 207 lbs.

When asked about Manziel's height and weight while still at A&M (I.e., is he too small?, etc.) someone offered, "He's just big enough to carry the Heisman."

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters. It's the size of the fight in the dog." - Bear Bryant

However, if I have a choice, I prefer a very large dog with huge "fight" in 'em. :)

Ahem...cough, cough...Ahem...Doug Flutie...Ahem...hack, cough.

If he can play, size doesn't matter. Just pointing out that he's not 6'0 and the staff will need to scheme to get him on the move- like Manziel or Flutie or other smaller QB's. I just don't want to see him running the same type of read option plays that Hunt has been running because I don't think Long at this time is built to take too many hits.

How tall he is or is not is NOT the issue. There are examples of success in football that overcome being short (e.g. Drew Brees, Doug Flutie).
The issue with AJ is his height/weight AND lack of arm strength; I went back and watched the YouTube of the Spring game and you could time his sideline throws with a sun dial... Now I'm no expert, but his arm strength looked well below average...

The thing is he throws well enough short to midrange to be effective. Lets face it we aren't a deep strike team anyway. I think he might add a dimension just because he throws an accurate and catchable ball. Lets face it if he throws it effectively and our guys are able to hang on its an instant upgrade over what we are currently dealing with. He just has to make the right reads and not overthrow guys.

Long is probably 5-10 165 if I had to guess, he's kicker size but So are quite a few decent qb' she won't be able to take to many shots that is for sure. He's very thin, not tall, and frail
This guy is getting smaller by the post.

From that video, his arm strength looks fine and he seems to know to put air under a deep ball.

I guess everyone has forgotten a small dual threat qb who was a 6'-0" under 200lb (190+-) freshman that played for Texas A&M that absolutely lit some teams up for the last two years. TALENT > MEASUREABLES. I don't compare the game of AJ to Johnny but really lets see what he can do on the field.

This was the article that caught my eye. http://www.syracuse.com/orangefootb...ball_freshman_qb_shining_with_scout_team.html

He prepped a defense that absolutely was ready for ND (forcing 5 turnovers) but the D ran out of gas because the offense couldn't stay on the field or capitalize on the turnovers.
