1000%That is a crazy take and just not true. Cook is a slot receiver. He is the STARTING slot receiver if he comes back.
I don't have expectations for true freshman. I can hope he'll be a stud, but you never know how a true freshman will transition to college. With us losing our top three wide receivers from last year, is it really too high of an expectation for Calvin Russell to be at least a WR2 as a true freshman? Honestly, that’s where my expectations are for him. Given the situation, we’re going to need him to step into a significant role right away. The talent is there, and the opportunity is wide open, so if he’s as advertised, this is the kind of impact we’ll need from him early on rather than easing him in slowly

I agreeDon’t know enough about the kid to know how refined he is. How strong his route running is, how well he is in and out of breaks and how much strength he has in things like hand fighting to get open at the right time, etc.
But basically our whole WR room left.
We need dudes. We need consistency. We need 3rd and 8 and you’re getting 9.
He better be ready to produce like a legit WR2. If not, we’re in trouble.
Hope he still does ST&C in some capacity needs to add weight.

Why don’t you tell him that? Tell him most 5 star guys that come to Syracuse focus on S&C instead of basketball. This is awful. What a terrible decision. Maybe a deciding factor why he came here, but he needs to focus on FB right now. I don’t believe he’s a plug and play as a true frosh. He needs to spend this semester in the S&C program not sitting the bench on a basketball team that isn’t going anywhere. He needs to add weight and focus. Couldn’t be a worse decision.
I’d like to see his free throw shooting.Yeah, but it would also be really cool if he could create his own shot off the dribble.
No better conditioning than Hoops, I’m sure he will Need to be in the weight room. Shouldn’t interrupt spring ball because the basketball team won’t make the tournamentThis is awful. Hopefully he gets some toke in the weight room just needs to be bigger stronger and faster I believe he can be plug in and play next year.No better conditioning than Hoops, I’m sure he will Need to be in the weight room. Bit hyperbolic. I'm sure he'll be working out with the FB team on a FB weight program, and I'm sure he'll be going to football meetings. Going to basketball practice for a few hours isn't going to change anything. This is awful. What a terrible decision. Maybe a deciding factor why he came here, but he needs to focus on FB right now. Yea we wouldn’t have Michigan offered him the same thing go play basketball and football.Bit hyperbolic. Also, maybe we wouldn't have landed him if he wasn't able to play basketball for SU?
As someone who played basketball throughout college i totally disagree. During the season practices are lighter and focused just as much on recovery. Won’t be getting too much running in on the bench. Plus, it’s a totally different set of muscle conditioning compared to football. Obviously, football is more explosive in smaller bursts. The team starts training next week. I’d want all my players to be there, especially incoming freshman. No better conditioning than Hoops, I’m sure he will Need to be in the weight room. So it gives him more time to be on a football plan. You're assuming the coaches aren't planning for this. He can go to 6am football practice and then basketball practice later. Even better that it's lighter and focused on recovery. As someone who played basketball throughout college i totally disagree. It’s a big enough adjustment for a 17/18 year old going to college for the first time without sports. Now factor in 2 sports, with practice and meetings taking up your entire day. Then what about game days? If your on the road you’re not going to be working out and if it’s a home game you’re whole day is planned. That’s a big ask for anyone, let alone someone away from home for the first time in their lives. So it gives him more time to be on a football plan.
