Looks like Brown getting significant time at the five for Duke with Ngongba out indefinitely

Checking their roster, they only have 3 forwards and 3 centers, so this seems like a bit of hyperbole. He's going to play.
If you count Flagg as a guard, like ESPN's roster, you are correct.

Knueppel and Evans, both top 20 recruits, are listed as SF. Gillis is also a forward, and is slightly heavier than Brown, although shorter.

Maluach and Flagg get the starters minutes, with backup 4-5 minutes and SF minutes split 4 ways.

After Nbongba returns, he takes the backup center minutes, and then Brown is competing with three guys for whatever minutes are left at forward.

And all three guys who he's competing with are good to great 3 point shooters with a coach that loves to shoot the three...

Where did you get all that from? 3rd string 4 and 3rd string 5? Out of the rotation?
I think he's referring to Maliq's status at the beginning of last season.

McLeod
Hima
Brown

Benny
Taylor
Brown

The team's success and ultimate underachieving was underscored by the fact that Maliq ended up the starting 5 and probably always was the best 4, if we didn't need him at the 5.

Did you just watch UConn last year? He can play D and he can pass and he can set screens and handle the short roll. They are 100% going to use him significantly.

Flagg can pick his position. I would play 3 as my primary and 4 as secondary if I were him.

Freeman was a top 10 guy, you think Freeman is going to realize his full potential in his first and likely only year with us? Of course not, he'll do well, have some flashes and get drafted on upside like most frosh that bounce. But you need a steady hand that can do the things that Sportscenter doesn't cover and that is why Maliq will play and why they went after him.

Saw a video after Duke players had a scrimmage before official practices started and a media guy asked players as they walked into the lockeroom which player was the best defender. Except for Flagg who said “me” (TIC), everyone he asked said “Maliq”.

I’m not gonna lie I completely forgot about Maliq Brown.

You previously said losing him was the biggest indictment against Autry.
Granted, last two seasons with him have been forgettable

It’s a big loss but I have not thought about him or Cuse basketball all summer. Seeing this thread literally reminded me of him. Probably more of a reflection on the state of the program

Well, I guess he messed up, then. We'll find out by about February.

Yeah, can't argue with that.

I still poke around the recruiting threads here and there, but huge dropout from the old offseasons

Its not even October, Brown hasn't played a minute for Duke and you guys still can't resist.
There are some geeks on the football board crapping on a kid who had as many sacks as series played in his first college game.

And people clown me.

lol. This thread.

Duke is fine at the five.

Maliq will either start or play a good amount on a team vying for a title and make good money.

Y’all sound like dudes who got dumped and still talk bad about the girl that dumped you at the townie bar a year later. Get over it.
Am I the only one who finds a hilarious that the same Syracuse fans who said this guy was an NBA player say that he’s a third string player at Duke? I’d like to know the average age of the poster who says this? Maybe like 45 lol.

Maliq Brown is like 20 or 21 years old and you can probably have whatever pick of whatever woman he wants in Durham, and is getting paid a load of money in the meantime while being on national TV.

The guys posting here can’t walk up a hill lol.
