Both will be part of senior day.

Both will be workout wonders in the tryouts. I wouldn't doubt that their numbers will bump up their draft status.

This doesn't surprise anyone, does it?

I'm surprised a bit.. They're both looking at being 3rd day picks at best. 3rd day picks have as much job security as an undrafted free agent..

They will be seniors academically, but could come back. I don't think they will though. West might

Makes it that much more important we bring in a second back for next year. Phillips alone is not going to cut it.

If West has eligibility and doesn't return that may go down as one of the dumbest moves in history. I like him, but he is far from showing NFL talent this year. Am is missing something?

Also hasn't it been said in years past that all individuals who are academic seniors are honored on senior day?

Perhaps he knows the NFL isnt in the cards and just wants to move on? Isnt he a bright kid? Was going to go to Stanford? Perhaps he wants to get started on a career as opposed to another 7-5 season?

I hope it's just allowing them to cover their bases and not because they have made up their minds. I guess I can see Hickey, but Smith and West leaving with eligibility, doesn't make sense if it's to leave for the league.

If they have their degrees and want to move on, that's their call, but can't see either as more than an UFA.

exactly. So their parents walk on the field twice. Oops. SORRY YOU'RE NOT WELCOME BACK REMEMBER YOUR MOM???

Smith had the potential going into the season to really advance his draft stock and unfortunately, that didn't pan out. I think he is another player, we are high on, but compared to the talent at other teams, he may go un drafted. There's always a multitude of talented backs that many people havent heard of. I would also be surprised if Hickey is drafted. If these two think that football is in their future they may be in for a disappointing draft weekend. I do wish them the best, but both could imporve their draft stock with another year.

That said - smith may be being pushed out. His carries may further decline next year with Morris and Mcfarlan, so this may be as high as his stock rises, unless he works to develop pass catching and back out of the back field skills/ 3rd down back stuff next year.

Hickey is not an early round pick, he's a very good college player who can seem to push a lot of weight, but he's not Justin Pugh, yet.

I'm really surprised by Hickey that he would have already made that decision. Shocked really. To the point that I'm anxiously awaiting the revised list.

Smith and West aren't NFL caliber. Brinkley, Reyes and Carter were better than Smith and none of them could cut it at the next level.

Smith needs a big year to impress. His production has been down this year, maybe due to less carries. Hate going into next year with just Morris and McFarlane. I like Morris but I'm not as sold on McFarlane at tailback as I once was.

I wonder what AAM's plans are? He's been a mystery because I still think he can be productive.

Didn't we have a few seniors the last few years that were part of senior day twice?

I wonder why Gulley isn't on the senior day list?

AAM and Funderburk were last seen playing hangman on the sideline.

Way too early to make that assumption.

While they both may leave, I don't think either has made up their minds totally yet.

He's better than he was last year, he has improved short yardage and redzone production. He's a very good college running back.
