I don't know what the issue with Funderburk is but Marrone and Hackett were going to have Funderburk and Flemming at WR and West in the Slot. Hunt would have been at safety.

IMHO Smiths draft stock has peaked and will only start going down from here on out. He should leave. Deandre Smith and McDonald have hitched their wagons to the youngsters. They both will be a lot more involved in the O next season. That can only mean Smith and PTG's carries will be even less. I guess that is if the staff hasn't had a change of heart since their expectations at the beginning of the season
Loeb bridge to Zach Allen would be my guess.
Because you go when your stocks the highest? If he has one more real season to play ball, then why should he leave. Kid is a very good college back.

He was projected 5-7, if he has NFL aspirations (and he does), IMO his stock would go down to ufa since he would be less involved in the O next season. Yes I realize some might think of it as splitting hairs. But it still seems to me you go when your stocks the highest even if the margins are slim. And especially if your role will be further diminished.Stock for what, to be a undrafted free agent, or at best end of the draft pick. Why trade one more year for that.

who pray tell, would have been the qb? A frosh in Allen?I don't know what the issue with Funderburk is but Marrone and Hackett were going to have Funderburk and Flemming at WR and West in the Slot. Hunt would have been at safety.

This couldn't be more accurateSmith should have left last year. I don't think he figured the new staff would reduce the role of their best back.

Yeah, it's already happenedSo a player who is a legit NFL prospect is going to see his PT cut on a .500 team that has run the ball the best it has in 10 years with him as the #1 back.
Yeah, that makes sense.

Not what I said. I said, you go when it's the highest. Which would've been at the end of last year. But my point is, it's only going to go down from here, so if there's a chance he's got to go now. I didn't say my opinion, my statement was based on draft prospect position sites, and the feedback he got from his evaluation last season. I was leaving it up to the pundits. My opinion is he'll go to a camp and get cut, but that's just me.Smith's stock is high? He's had an average year. I just don't see him making an NFL roster. Ever.

If he fights for The #1 spot I see no problem with that. Every team will have guys that aren't made for the top spot, but settle in nicely as secondary options. Having an experienced receiver in ther as a 2 or 3 is not a big deal, quite frankly that is a good thing. There are true freshman around the country who come in immediately and they are the guy. It is called good recruiting. If we get there soon I would be a very happy man. If West were to leave over fear of competition for the #1 spot it would be very short sighted. He is the type that could thrive with the attention being pulled away from him.
