Losing Onuaku was much worse than losing Melo

Difference between 2010 and 2012 was the overall talent in CBB was down in 2010 compared to this year. Without AO the Orange still had a 4 point lead on Butler with 3 mins. to go before three bad things happened: JB went into the stall, the no call on the Matt Howard suplex, the Butler inbounds steal where the refs missed the guy's foot on the line. Either of those goes the other way, SU survives. In the next round K-State had nothing left after their 2OT game according to coach Martin. Then they get a #5 seed Mich St. and a Duke team most would agree was not vintage that got a gift road to the final four. This year if SU can make the elite 8 and the chalk holds up they'll have to beat Sullinger, then Barnes, then Davis, which isn't likely.

I'm with on everything but what I put in bold. I've gone back and watched the end of that game numerous times and I wouldn't call it stall ball. It was only a couple of possessions and we were running plays with about 15 seconds on the shot clock.

What was the Matt Howard "suplex"? I remember the out of bounds play but that one escapes me.

If you've watched a tape of that game numerous times, you have my sympathy.

with about 4 minutes left and cuse up 4, butler has the ball and howard and joseph get tangled up on the baseline and howard literally grabs joseph and pulls him to the ground, no foul. butler hits the 3 that cuts it to 1 on that possession and the rest is history.

It's all relative. K-State was going to be a tough game with Melo in the lineup. Now it's a horrible matchup for us.

They're going to get a ton of offensive boards. They're going to all but take away our transition game. And they're going to get Rak and BMK in foul trouble.

THIS. We needed a team like Gonzaga waiting for us in round 2...soft and all offense. These defensive minded, great rebounding teams are not what we want to see.

I have confidence that Rak will step up and Baye will be a decent back up. Rak played really well in one of the games that Fab was out (Cinci I think). He won't be looking over his shoulder for the quick hook and I think will have a good tourney.
