Louisville Receives NCAA Notice of Allegations

Well looks like Rick better get AT LEAST a 9 game vacation. Somehow that's not lack of institutional control or failure to monitor, though?

Double standard ...and yes, I sure hope SU got rid of their drug use policy.

NCAA identified the value of Louisville's impermissible benefits through adult entertainment, sex acts and cash at "at least $5,400."

NCAA placed the # of Louisville basketball players/recruits who got extra benefits through sex acts/adult entertainment at "at least 17."

Ex-Louisville director of ops Andre McGee and ex-assistant Brandon Williams refused to cooperate with NCAA. Both are subject to show cause.

NCAA: Pitino didn't show that he monitored McGee and is potentially subject to show cause order. NCAA now places more burden on head coach.

NCAA: Pitino didn't look for red flags, didn't ask pointed questions, didn't regularly seek honest feedback about McGee with recruits.

NCAA mitigating factors for Louisville include prompt acknowledgment of the violations and self-imposed postseason ban in 2015-16.

Mitigating factor for Louisville: Reporting 50 Level III/secondary violations from 2011-16. This is exactly why schools report those

Some of you asked how NCAA determined $5,400 value for strip shows/sex acts. NCAA said it was based on interviews, receipts, other info.

NCAA: If a player provided a range for the dollar value for adult entertainment, NCAA enforcement used the range's lowest number.

So one kid got $300 for YMCA speech which was paid back and we get killed

Ville has 17 kids get $300 worth of strippers and sex and underage parties and get virtually nothing

This is total bs. Louisville gets nothing. UNC will get nothing. We got hosed.

We've fought to get some scholarships back but why are we not fighting to get more reductions, including JB's wins back? Maybe JB truly does not care about the vacated wins.

If UNC gets something similar for their fiasco, I think SU will have a strong case to go back at the NCAA.

How would you like the people on the committee running a corporation? They'd be out of business within a year.

Coach said drugs were not cause of vacated wins
That was not the only penalty SU faced. The drug policy was part of the NCAA findings.

From 2001 to early 2009, the school did not follow its own written policies and procedures for students who tested positive for banned substances. NCAA rules require that if schools have a drug testing policy in place, it must include substances on the banned list and the school must follow its policy. Syracuse had a written policy; however, the head basketball coach and athletics director admitted they did not follow the policy. The athletics director said the department followed an “unwritten policy” because the written policy was confusing. As a result, basketball students who tested positive on more than one occasion were not withheld from practice and games, as the written policy directed.
