Low-fare Frontier Airlines coming to Syracuse

I know a few folks who have now taken it to/from Denver, and Orlando. It's been described as a Metro North train with wings. I'm ok with that to Florida. Not sure if it'd venture much father though.

Flying Walmart is the description I use when tellinf family/friends.

Some bad news...Air Canada has cancelled nonstops to Toronto from Syracuse and Rochester. The pricing was always too high.

Air Canada to drop three US cities

That plane was like a 10 seat WW2 plane. Loud as hell, all metal, co pilot read the seat belt instructions, no bathroom. But a great way to get back to Cuse when coming in from overseas. Too bad.

I think part of the reason why AC is cancelling YYZ-SYR is because I believe they are slowly phasing out their Beechcraft 1900 ops. Other 1900 markets are either getting axed too or getting upgauged to Dash 8s.

Ya that's what I figured as well. It's a shame, as Air Canada has a great network... and was very competitive on a fair number of intl flights. Oh well, next man up!

Syracuse Airport looking for a communication/marketing specialist. Might be a perfect job for a millennial trying to break in the field.

It is funny this came up. My wife and I were waiting at the Orlando airport last week for our flight back to Syracuse when she saw a Frontier plane with a white animal on the tail. She wanted to know what it is. We ended up spending a lot of time looking at their fleet of planes, all of which have large pictures of animals on the tail.

Pretty cool.

So, what was it?

Flying nowadays is like a Greyhound with wings. I would rather go to the dentist.

Why I like Allegiant...nonstop, get the pain over as quick as possible.

Dallas would be a game changer
Unfortunately, I think getting SW is a pipe-dream. They wouldn't have gone into Rochester if Air-tran hadn't merged with them. While I do think that would solve a whole host of Air-travel concerns, I think we need to come to terms that the SW ship might have sailed. They seem to be less focused on growing hub and spoke routes, and more focused on Hawaii, and International gateways into Mexico and the Caribbean going into 2019. I think non-stop gateways on a major carrier to one of it's western/central US hubs will go along way for connecting leisure/business travel out of SYR. It will also help with often high prices when the best connecting gateways start filling up... There is demand, a refurbished airport, and the need... but will the carriers see it as a profitable venture, there in lies the rub.

I’m very excited about this, given my ties to Raleigh.

My works travel company just booked me and my women’s tennis team on a frontier flight from Albany to Orlando for our spring break matches. Was apprehensive at first, but saved over 2K, so I’m hopeful it all works out.

My parents ts used it from Ft Myers to Syracuse and back and saved lots. Thought it was good

United adding a daily nonstop to Denver starting in early June. Supposedly the only Upstate City with daily service to Denver. It with be in three seating class Embraer Jets E175

Frontier does twice a week seasonal service to Denver.

United it would be nice to add a daily nonstop to the Houston Hub.

Albany has Southwest direct to Denver (seasonal). Frontier ran direct flights for a very short time, but they have been discontinued.

Yeah that is why I put in the qualifier (daily) it is supposed to be year round.

It should be able to grab some flyers from a couple hours away including Canada.

This is awesome, the best news since Delta added direct flights to Minneapolis (do they still run those?). I think this will be huge.
